    Default Haters

Is it just me or is this industry getting overrun with haters by both players and affiliates (can include player/affiliates in there too, there is a difference).<O</O
    <O</O

It seems that more and more posts are being made that simply hate on people, companies, programs, the way things are run etc etc blah blah blah.<O</O
    <O</O

    Why is this?<O</O
    <O</O

Lack of sleep, poor diet, boredom, not making as much cash as they thought due to either casinos not paying out every spin or the affy business isnt as easy as it looks?<O</O

I have noticed there are a number of haters that cover all the major forums and hate on everything and whip up storms for the sake of whipping up storms, is this really a way to do business?

    Whats going on?

Remember it was in the midst of a depression that Hitler and the Nazis were voted into office.

When times are bad people stress out and some people like to blame everyone else for their problems.

I think tough times leads to harsher attitudes.

I hope so, I need to get my post ratio up to make the number 1 on this months hot list!

    Wise words AmCan, very true.

However with us all working towards the same goal surely this attitude will only foil any potential benefits to working together and being a sucess? Not saying that this is between me and you of course but in general.

People need to be more positive and work together and use forums for positives also, otherwise they will become places of depression and the value and interest will be lost.

This could definatelly be a popcorn thread

I admit to being involved in the type of threads that you mention, however, i like to think that i am reasonable and defend as often as i complain!

Does that clear me of being a bad bwoy?

Seriously though folks, have to agree with The DomeTM on this one.

I think it's a consequence of the growth of the industry, combined with a number of the factors mentiuoned above.

Although the conferences and events are really friendly as more and more new people join the game then we all move further and further away from the sense of commeraderie that some of the old hats talk about existing back in the day.

It has an air of inevitability about it but still means we should respect and support the principles and values from back in the day even though we won't always know and recognise all the faces in the room anymore.

Hater - One who hates; One who expresses unfounded or inappropriate hatred or dislike, particularly if motivated by jealousy
    Hmmm. Not sure that fits.

Lack of sleep, poor diet, boredom, not making as much cash as they thought due to either casinos not paying out every spin or the affy business isnt as easy as it looks?
Maybe in some cases but there are actually many ligitmate complaints. Otherwise CM's PAB's wouldn't exist. Some real issues are discovered from some of these posts that help us all try to improve the rep of online gambling. I think it's a catch 22. If you complain you may be seen as a hater. If you don't then the problem doesn't get resolved.

    For affiliates, there are some real good responses here;

I don't understand haters... Hating something just eats up your energy, poisons your body and after some time ruins you physically.
If I were a hater I would burn my energy in some horizontal activities

// not just in a horizontal way ofcoz... //

Martyn, you shouldn't bother with haters, I know it's hard when you have to be nice to someone with an offensive and hating attitude, but just don't let their mood poison your well-being.

In the case of complaining: if it's legitimate, then I think every complain has to come to light. Remember: from 10 dissatisfied people only 1 will complain...

It's because people are using far too many smiley faces in their posts..

    Hmmm...

Agreed also.. I find there are certain "people" who go around to each forum and the only thing they do is find something to bitch about.

I have no problems with legitimate complaints, but there are some who just live to bitch. I have noticed it mostly on CMs actually. There has to be some suppressed greatness in there somewhere that eventually has to come out.

I think a lot of people like to place blame too as AmCan said.

I think over time a lot of respect gets lost out the window and people forget that there is actually a real person sitting on the end of their comments. They don't think before they type because they have a computer in front of them protecting them from the world. Everyone makes jokes.. but it's not even that. It's the critical words that are said without thinking. I wish people would just sometimes think about what they want to say before they post.

My biggest gripe is when people complain and make threats. Not sure what they think they will accomplish by that. A nice little note always goes further than a threat (with me at least).

Could you post some sample posts? Not nessacary to quote but lets do an excercise! Pretend you are a hater.

Post some hater posts so we can see what you're talking about?

A label applied to people who are more negative than positive when discussing another person. It most commonly refers to individuals whose negativity is so extreme that it is all-consuming. However, there are various levels and forms of being a hater, ranging from completely dismissing any positive traits or actions, to merely painting a less than flattering picture by using words with negative connotations. Hating is often attributed to jealousy, but just as often, it seems to stem from some other source.
    Src: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hater

So an example would be someone who may look at a program they dislike for whatever reason and try to find anything wrong with that program, then post threads dissing them everywhere. But maybe not even only for one program, that person may do it for 10 programs.. But that would be all they do.

A real life example might be someone who constantly starts new threads or trashes other people's threads to post about how much they hate the wager model and how much they hate Rewards Affiliates... and make that the seed of their existence. Or someone who only ever posts about how much they hate free spins bonuses... and never posts about anything else.
    Just a couple of examples.

    Does that make more sense?

    I hate all this ****.

Does the smiley --^ ruin that?

Just kidding, though. Funny thread in a way, but can be true. There has been a lot of turmoil in the industry lately and it wouldn't surprise me that much of it is economy-related.

On the player side it's easier to understand. People hate losing, many players don't know when to stop and they take their frustration out on the boards. With affiliates there is little excuse unless you get shafted and then arguably it's their own fault for not doing due diligence.

Also worth remembering is being an affiliate has low barriers to entry. You don't need to be edumacated or business savvy. Both sides of the fence will attract all sorts.

Most of the people you see "hating" on the boards would not be nearly so obnoxious in real life I suspect. They use the anonymity to try and play at being a big shot.

Like Renee suggests, the savvy ones know that diplomacy gets you a lot further. The haters just end up being hated, aprt from by other haters obvioulsy LOL.
