Favourite Moment of the Games so far has to be the BBC interview with the father of SA's Chad le Clos after he'd seen his son win the Gold Medal - absolutely priceless!

lol yeah, for someone to break the record in an event like basketball they'd be have to be competing into their 80's

The running events seem more specialised with the events they train for. Bolt won 100, 200, and Relay at the last olympics, but even if he maintained 3 golds each competition, I doubt any runner will ever maintain that for 5 straight olympics to match Phelps.
I heard on the radio this morning that Phelps holds the record for most number of golds won for a single event now..

Regarding his age, I was saying in the car this morning that he would be "old" for a swimmer.. even though he is probably late 20s, early 30s.

There was also an aussie girl who scored the highest number of goals in basketball than anyone has ever done too.. Can't remember her name though.

Hey Renee, yeah that's Lauren Jackson. She also carried the flag for Australia in the opening ceremony
She's a top player, she's been WNBA MVP before too. Shame we don't have Andrew Bogut in the men's team or we could probably fight for a medal.

A friend sent me a link to this story today about the Chinese diver that won gold, pretty sad. I guess it worked since she's won 3 gold medals but it sounds like she's done it at the expense of living any kind of a normal life whatsoever: http://deadspin.com/5931182/chinese-...ied-a-year-ago

Wow that almost made me cry. The father is right though, she doesn't really belong to them anymore. I would be surprised if she even felt anything over the death of her grandparents. I imagine she didn't even know them really.

It's really sad. I feel very sorry for her. When she retires I hope she still understands the importance of family, socialising and basic human life.

    wow, nice gif
shows just how far the athletes have improved.
I was watching the men's 1500m swimming race, the record got smashed.
The way Kieren Perkins and Grant Hackett dominated that event in the past, I thought those records would stand for a long time.

was debating with some friends recently on the 92 dream team vs the 2012 team.
It's hard to compare different eras, the players in the current team are quicker and more athletic than the 92 team.
I think of the two teams, the current one is more likely to have a loss, but that could just be due to most other countries catching up in skill.

hey you forgot Christian Laettner :P
They should have put Shaq in as the college player instead of Laettner, and Dominque Wilkins ahead of Chris Mullin.
