I know what you guys mean... had absolutely no interest in the lead up to the Olympics but now that its here I find myself flicking over to it on the telly rather regularly

For example, I spent 90 mins on Saturday watchimg women's archery! WTF!?

Congrats to team GB on snagging the Bronze in the team gymnastics. Was a pity they did not get to keep the preliminary silver that should have been....

All I ever want to watch is the women's gymnastics and it seems to only be on at times that I am not home or when there is soccer on (which my other half has already claimed to watch). So I have not gotten to watch any yet

    Not happy Jan!

    Renee,

I am so damn glad you mentioned the gymnastics since it made me switch over and watch a bit....and just happened to do so during that section....but...the best was yet to come....

The absolute best thing I saw was one of the commercials.....

It was a commercial of what appeared to be a dead guy....or a corpse or something on the horse....

Was entertaining as hell....especially his ummmmmm dismount......lol....

I dont wanna ruin the surprise so I will see if I can find it on youtube and post a link....was an ad for "paranorman"....had me laughing like crazy, which to be honest doesn't happen a whole lot lately and for that I thank you....

    Found it....

Even though it looks as though the US is winning the gold.... it might be due to the fact the the Olympic Committee has some sort of silly rule that the athletes must be alive or something....as in no zombies allowed....after you see this guy perform you will know why they do NOT allow them....they would probably take the gold everywhere they competed....

Rick the vid is hilarious. Love it.

Australia is doing so poorly this time. I was saying to my other half the other day that back around 2000 all the swimmers were so serious about their sport so we did really well.. you could almost guarantee that we would win each race, but the ones these days seem to be more interested in getting into fights etc than their sport. Like the swimmers that get banned for punching each other at nightclubs etc. Their egos get in the way. It's pretty disappointing.

yeah hopefully we can win a few more gold medals over the next few days. Most olympics we're used to having a few standouts that get gold medals in the pool, but this year's team seems to be missing that special talent like an Ian Thorpe or Grant Hackett or someone that dominates.

On a side note, one of my high school friends is representing Australia as the captain of the women's Water Polo team, they won 16-3 this morning!

Yea I noticed that Australia isn't winning as many medals as I thought they would....but I happened to be watching when your guy took the gold away from Phelps in one of the swimming events.....butterfly I think.....

He had it up until the end but he blew it the last few feet.....

The guy that beat Phelps was South African I think, I always get them mixed up cos their team has similar colours to ours too heheh

But still, Phelps with the most gold medals of all time now, the guy is a beast!

He doesn't seem to blow away the competition as much as he did at the last olympics but still doing great.

Can't wait to see the 100m to see if Usain Bolt can back up his win at the last olympics

yeah 19 gold medals now for Phelps, that record will last a very long time
I think if it ever happens it'd have to be another swimmer that breaks it, since there are so many swimming events

woops my bad, Phelps record is actually 15 gold medals he has 19 total medals (including 6 gold at the 2004 olympics, and 8 at the 2008 olympics)

lol yeah, for someone to break the record in an event like basketball they'd be have to be competing into their 80's

The running events seem more specialised with the events they train for. Bolt won 100, 200, and Relay at the last olympics, but even if he maintained 3 golds each competition, I doubt any runner will ever maintain that for 5 straight olympics to match Phelps.
