Default How Do The Full Time Affiliates Spend Their Time?

Just curious, as a more passive affiliate but with some growth, what the full time affiliates are spending their time on day to day. ie. If you had to group your 8 hour day into categories what would they be? Just trying to get a sense of what the pros are doing and where the focus should be. Part of it is also I'm not sure what I could do for 8-10 hours a day 5 days a week.

    I'm imagining something like:
1 hour - reading affiliate forums, interacting
2 hours - marketing on xyz sites
2 hours - creating new content (blog posts, images, youtube videos, campaigns)
1 hour - review stats, revenue
    etc.

    TIA for any input!

    I'm in a different boat.

I work for a major affiliate as an editor, which funds my own personal website. Therefore, my time is spent 50/50.

However, as people have said, 8 hours a day isn't enough to get everything done - not even close.

It all depends on how happy you are with where you're at. If you put in longer hours, you might just see results increase. Even a slight increase is a good increase!

I think the most time consuming is account manager (new accounts, deals, brand position, etc...). sometimes it fills like you are the only affiliate in the industry.

second is on site marketing (monetization)
    - A/B testing
    - CTA
    - device conversion rate

last one is accounting. from end on month stats through payments and balancing the books to tax reports.

7:30am ... breakfast for the kids, making them ready for school. meanwhile some stats and emails.
8:30am ... starting to be productive
3:30pm ... picking up the boys from school

    8:00-9:00pm some last tasks
rest is free or honey time.

I have tried it all ... 18 hours a day too.
For me its better to run 6 to 7 hours max, very concentrated and planned. Routines are everything.
Work smart not hard, i outsource every little i can.

Maybe i don't want to be a billionaire but its fine for 30/40k a month and i have kids who know its father.

Ditto, I did that for literally years on end. AM's from back then would be like: "Do you ever sleep?" I'd throw 30 page sites up in less than a week (no WP back then) everything hand coded, mostly, in Dreamweaver.

I worked like that for close on 10 years (a few weeks holiday here and there) but... after almost 47,000 hours, I crashed hard. Mentally drained, and worse for wear. Couldn't write another line of code, even if you paid me a Million Dollars. Took me literally ages to recover. That was 5 years ago, and even now, some days I still feel tired.

Granted all that work paid dividends.I didn't have children to worry about, only a partner, but that ended in disaster.

In the beginning, newbies need to work hard, very hard indeed, if you want to be successful. However, don't do what I did, and burn yourself out. I truely believe, if you've laid a solid framework, then you can eventually, after a few years, work regular, sensible hours, and still earn nice income.

Hence, I agree with eenzoo, and his 6 - 7 hours max a day work routine

Being mostly sports focused there are natural times when things are chaotic and you work all day long and other times when things are a lot quieter and you can have more time back.

As eenzoo and AussieDave say its about balance, no point working yourself into the ground. Better to be plan and focus and this way work is more challenging and you end up enjoying it more.

As they say work to live don't live to work.

I am recently spending most of my time trying to persuade employees that work is the best thing they can do. It is done through chatting, rising salaries, diminishing salaries, making them fun and offline activities, teaching, doing yoga and hikes not to be totally desperate and so on.

I used to work from 8am through to 3am every day of the week, including weekends, only stopping for dinner and the odd shopping trip for essentials ( most stuff I buy online ) I did this for 17 years solid and eventually as Aussie Dave says - you get burnt out, and I was finding it harder and harder to find the motivation to even switch the computer on, let alone do any quality work.

Nowadays I still work long hours but generally try and shut down by 10pm every night and don't spend every hour of the weekend working anymore, and I have found by doing this I tend to do more quality work in less hours and get to spend some quality time with the family.

To answer the original posters question: What do you do during the working hours? In my case we have over 100 websites so it is easy to be kept busy, but I would say my biggest task is checking the quality of the content our writers produce, uploading content, negotiating exclusive deals with casinos, chasing payments, analysing stats, finding reputable casinos to promote ( getting harder and harder! ) checking for broken links, changing bonuses etc

I always joke and say that I could work solidly for 2 years and still not be up to date. As I write this post I have no less than 5502 emails in my inbox that have to be dealt with believe it or not ( and that is after getting rid of the spam and junk mail ) ...by the time I get around to some of them, they are 6 months old already!!

This is what I like to hear! But take care of you as well!

For me it's 7:30am to 5pm, then I go out 1-2 hours, then I get back to work 8pm to 10,max 11pm. Around 10 hours of fully effective work per day. I think when younger you are ready to allow "too much time" on work, but later in life you also want to live well.

Always there is a time to take care after family , kid and friends. Now it is not that intensive as I used to be before 5-6 years, but passion must stay at high levels.

Joking aside though, I burnt out massively. I did long hours working and also combined that with partying pretty hard for the first couple of years.

I do about 8 hours a week now and am generally tired and knackered most days.

As a new affiliate though, I did 60-70 hour weeks and thought nothing of it. The setting up is the big thing and the big time when your workload is highest.

Upon getting successful I fell into loads of traps though:

    - Obsessively checking revenue stats at casinos/bookies
    - Obsessively checking Google positions for certain keywords
    - Obsessively checking Google Analytics stats

The 3 above are traps I'd recommend to avoid.

Set a timetable for your week and stick to it. Figure out if a job is making you any more money by doing it, e.g. is checking your stats daily really necessary? I say No, so don't do it. Only do work that is gaining you something, you need to work to maximum efficiency and build in lots of time out. Do meditation and other relaxation as well, relax in your free time as much as possible.

Busted hah. Yeah TheOracle is my original site and "brand", much more personable, original focus was honestly just putting up sports picks etc. and a face to the name with my YouTube, Instagram, etc. and over time evolved into also having the affiliate offers. SportsBettingUSA.info was my attempt to have a more generic site without a personality if you will attached to it. NFLBetting.tips is another one where i just stripped out any generic & nfl related articles to post on there.

So being a rookie, whats the downfall to doing this? Assuming search rankings since its all duplicate content?
