How much content can a full time writer create per day?

Here is my situation. I want to expand the gambling related part of my business and want to hire content writers. Considering that I operate from a country were labor is very cheap it makes more sense than keep carrying on with freelancers. However I have never had a full time content writer working for me.

So I would like to get on your opinion on how many articles a full time writer can create each day within 8 hours of work. Considering there is always some research etc. required I was thinking that 5 well written and researched articles with 500 words each would be realistic.

At least that's the number of articles I used to write. What are your opinions on this. Are 5 articles too much or to little during a 8 hour working day? Thanks for your input!

I personally would not employ a writer full time as an employee. What happens if they have a "writers-block" moment that lasts the whole day?

I hire writers and pay them per article. They only get paid once they deliver and the work is to my satisfaction.

A cheap labour writer cannot produce quality articles.

Depends what you are writing about.. If the writer is knowledgeable in the subject they can write from the top of their heads... Take a hip hop artist for example.. they can write 8-10 number one hit songs in a day.. the same goes for skilled writers.. 20-40 per day of 500 is good.. 30 mins per article.. if the person has no knowledge then however long it takes him to research and put it to paper.. its all about personal ability..

Depends all on the knowledge of the writer and the quality of the article. Sitting 1 hour in the train, I can write 4 or 5 average articles when I got subjects in mind. A longer and higher quality article takes a lot longer. With some research, easily 8 hours. You'll need somebody with gambling-experiencie if you want 5 wel written and researched articles with 500 words each and someone that knows about call to action.

Usually: pay peanuts and you'll get monkeys. Also if you pay some one per article, you are paying directly for what you're wanting: content. If you pay someone per hour, you also pay him to think, to sit in the garden with a beer, etc. and deliver a crappy article the end of the day. If you pay him for artictles that do satisfy, than you will just have articles that do fulfill the quality level you're asking.

Usually the software collects exiting articles from the net and after mixing some articles, rewrites the "new" one a few times. The result is 80-100% unique, medium quality content. 25 - 30 articles a week is a realistic expectation. You obviously want to avoid duplicate content and if the writer can inject an actual opinion that is an added bonus. You want someone who has a genuine interest in the subject matter as well, that saves a lot of time researching basic concepts and their enthusiasm for what they're writing about will come through and make a difference.

If the writer is knowledgeable and writes high quality reviews/articles, then I would hire him/her on an article by article basis, or I'd send him a list of topics that I need a number of articles for. I wouldn't expect them to write an x number of articles per day because they might not be able to, or they might try to but the quality of the work might suffer. I would personally stay away from sites that offer fast, cheap articles because they usually produce low quality content. Once I hired a cheap article writing service to write an article about a certain topic only to find that they merely spun one of my original articles that I had written.

It depends on the amount of words per article. Let´s say an article shoud have at least 500 words I would say that 5 up to 8 articles per day is definitely possible but only when the writer has some background knowledge about sports and betting as well.

As someone who has worked as a full time freelance writer in the gambling industry as well as written books for publishers in the past, I thought I would share some relevant experience about the subject of this thread. There have been many good responses, and the answer does depend on quite a few variables.

The first thing is that many have expressed the best way to buy content is on a freelance basis and not hiring an employee, for lack of a better word. This is excellent advice, and as a freelancer I prefer this arrangement as well. Most people who freelance (or work as affiliates) don't want a regular job.

How much content a full time writer can create per day is one question, but I would suggest a more accurate question of how much can a full time content writer produce per day on an ongoing basis. The reason I suggest this is because if I am writing about something that I know and am on a tight deadline I can do 8 - 10,000 words in a day. But there is no way I can do it day after day. It takes a toll mentally. When I was younger I could do more, but 40 -50,000 words a week is impossible if you want good content. Currently I shoot for around 20,000 words per week if I am writing gambling content. I don't need to do much research unless I am writing reviews, but even when I do them I already know the basics. If I am writing straight poker or casino games strategy I can write more, maybe 25 - 30,000 in a week because I don't have to do any research.

You can buy low quality content in bulk, but what I am talking about is well written material that can be published with no revisions. What many buyers of content don't factor in when considering the cost of content is how much time they will need to put into editing it .

To bring the rambling to an end, I think a realistic number of words per day on average is 4 - 5,000.

I'm sure it could work for casino sites since it's less complex. What can you write about. Promotions, new games and bonus..........Boring!!

Any spun content can never ever come close to being medium quality content. I can spot a spun article ten miles away. But hey, some people are easily fooled.

Professional writer with high demands of themselves will never answer the question "How much per day?" because high quality content can only be written until the muse kisses. That only people can understand, who have held a real book in their hands more than once the last time (by the way ... today is "World Book Day").

Writer sometimes creating one page per day, sometimes up to six, sometimes nothing if muse is sleeping in its warm nest.

Real professional writers with high demands of themselves will never take money per word. That would be a slap into the face for all writers and poets who love what they are doing. The price is for the complete article, story or project and word count doesn't matter if the first word embraces the paper.

Writers who live in friendship with muse will use content for themselves or only sell it to people, who understand and appreciate the aesthetic of words, and this is the minority.

Thanks everyone for all the great input. I will have an interview with a native English speaker today. He used to be a financial journalist so I have to see if he would be able to produce gambling content. I definitely pay him per article first and then will evaluate the quality.
