I deposit about $20 every week or two for research purpose and a bit of fun. How much do you gamble weekly?

I have a special gambling credit card with a £1000 limit which I usually max-out in a single 2-3 hours of playing

It then takes me 3 months to pay off before I can play again (unless I win of course !)

So I guess that works out at about £83 per week.

I used to play online poker a couple nights a week, but the gf got me a playstation 3 for my b-day and threatened to kill me if I didnt play it...so given the value I have for life, I play alot of video games now.

I won $32,300US

On those figures I'm dropping around $5,290US a month.

Though some months I get sick of playing and give it a rest for a few months. So I guess some months I'm dropping over 10KUS.

No wonder that new BMW always seems that little bit out of reach

Seriously though I don't really not anymore. I don't have the time to play. I have played enough poker rooms to be able to write reviews and the odd time maybe once a month I might deposit $30 than cash out when I hit a couple hundred

.... I used to gamble quite a bit .... but fell off drastically when income fell off .... and probably for the best.

last few months i bet I haven't played more than couple hundred a month .... if that much.

I do still play poker a little bit ..... but even that has fallen off because I either can't find a sit and go game of any stakes .. (I hate playing small stakes because you inevitably run into the biggest idiots who apparently feel since its such small stakes .. they have no problem calling your pocket aces while holding k,10 ..... and then perhaps its just my luck ... but they'll catch 2 pair or 3 kind)

I played at full tilt for a while .. because they had larger stake games ..... but then ran into getting kicked out or lost connection ..... and frankly I lost more times due to their inablility to keep players connected than I did to bad play or bad luck.

I don't like to lose and even more so ... don't like losing because I never had a chance to win. I've still got money in FT .... but am so burned on their incompetence that i literally cringe at the thought of going back there to play.

I disagree help. I think you gotta know what you're talking about and if you've never gambled much online ... then its hard to do that.

there's much more involved than just understanding the gambling. You need to understand how the payment systems work and the many scams or ...perhaps that's too strong or not the right word....... but the ways players are going to encounter trouble when they are playing online for real money. there's only one way to achieve that.

While after enough time you'll get an idea from player complaints... you'll learn much quicker by choosing to go first hand and experience it for yourself.

I think in the long run .......if you're going to be in this industry .. you need to know these things.

Bit of advice then E my friend.

consider playing only sit and goes.

then .... as I learned (the hard way) ... you can almost earn your way into the money by not ever involving yourself in any confrontation.... as I learned ... (because I fell asleep several times) ... you can earn 4th by never betting.

meaning you can fold your way into the money .... (nearly) ... only play AA, KK and QQ.

screw the other choices until you've seen 3 or 4 drop out of the match.

so many times i see the pressure get to others before myself by taking this approach.

meaning you'll end up in a situation where you'll at best .... have to face one or two situations that might cost you the game. hit one win ... and you're almost insured to land in the money.

that's the best advice i can give. and i'm sure there are others better than myself that will argue.

what I feel they miss is ... if you're not as experienced .... its best to stay out of a fight than to fall into it.

one last word ... fold that QQ if an ace or king pops up and especially at a full or near full table.

the above applies even more to games where the stakes are low. These players will go all in with K,10 ... at the drop of a hat and if they catch their pair...... you're screwed. got to know when to fold 'em as the song says.

*I don't see you making foolish play ...... so IMHO ... you simply need to adjust your choices of tables..... meaning your likely to use that patient .. more intelligent approach at a sit and go than a regular table.

I have gambled online for the past 10 years. That was when I started as an affiliate. I play pretty regularly, but smaller amounts. I usually drop about $1000-$1500 a month, but most of the money comes from affiliate programs, so I don't feel so bad about spending it, as it is only an extra source of income and is not considered in our main source of income. I think though it is time to wean off a bit, since I only have a couple of affiliate programs that are really doing anything right now. Even though our home is paid for in full as well as all vehicles and the only bills we have are regular monthly-yearly expenses, and our kids are all grown up so there is no college tuition to worry about anymore, I am still going to curb the amount I spend until my affiliate income picks back up.
