How much does posting on google+, facebook, Twitter, and the likes help with getting links to my page? Does it help at all? Trying to get my page to move up on google. Thanks in advance to any response.

Depending on how much notifications I have haha
If I don't have notifications then I switch to another social networking site
Hi folks,
This is my first visit in this forum. As we all can see the popularity of social media websites is increasing rapidly. Since 5-6 years every person has his/her own visibility on an Internet. The things has be changed and everybody knows about these social sites.
Thanks
First of all, the links you do get on social (ie the ones you post, FB likes etc) debatably have no ranking value on their own.
What posting on them does is widen your footprint online, potentially placing you as an expert or at least someone interesting to listen to in your field. So people respond to your social posts, they might come visit your site, your traffic grows, more people notice your social posts and/or site, they share it with their mates/circles, ultimately someone with a real site may notice you and link to you too.
So social posting is part of a well rounded SEO strategy.
If you do it well, then the least you're going to get is more traffic and more people that know about your site.
If not so well, it won't hurt you but will probably be ineffective. And just use up time you could have spent building up the site.
I try to spend less time right now. But sometimes I just think to myself: What have people been doing later before the social network boom started? I mean instead of the social pages visits. But I think it is pretty hard to live without them now.
Most of the lads i know in Social do not even have a website. Just Facebook or Twitter.
If 1 or 2 big websites mixed with 1 or 2 big social players, could be an amazing combo.
Crazy amounts jumping on the social side now though.

For personal use - maybe once a week (ten minutes).
For sites promotion and interaction - 30 minutes per day.
Usually, I do participate in communities, groups on FB, Twitter and Google plus for my websites.
Im in the process of hiring a social media specialist to promote my brand online. Being that it will be a mixture of a lot of generic sports and gaming related content combined with the occasional promotion of my specific site I wondered if its likely there would be an appetite to share this service. The social media analyst/expert is likely to be under resourced otherwise and so it would make for greater cost effectiveness. (obviously the person would need to be primed on your particular product and proposition)
In my mind Im thinking if 4/5 sites were to combine it would reduce cost dramatically. Feasible ?
Shrewood it is very hard hiring someone to do this. I see guys who know social media and guys who know gambling. You need to have both.
i have 4 guys full time just on social, but again like Seo it's about content now to get the best signups.
go very careful when selecting who will do this, 90% will get you a advert ban within a week.

Thanks for that Gary,
Its definitely a valid point - I have someone in mind who is very knowledgeable in both which is great but its just ensuring he has enough workload to make his wage cost effective.
4 guys full time on social sounds like quite an operation ?!

I spend two to three hours in Facebook everyday. Mainly to interact with my friends locally and abroad. It's fun also watching the videos and being updated to the latest news around the world.![]()
I work in an web agency.. So I have to choice to spend out all my time on internet!
8 hours per day. Can you imagine?
hi gary,
wow four people on social media!
I'm relatively new to this (both social and affiliates) so do you think the more laddish/near-the-knuckle approach to twitter used by some bookmakers (thinking especially Paddy Power) works with affiliates or is that more about branding than engagement?

I don't spend much time. Just post to Facebook with the post and have this linked to output to Twitter. I remain to be convinced that people in this niche really interact much with social media, though stand to be corrected?
2-3 hours a dayMuch time in messenger.
