info on the igaming business magazine thingy

Hi BB1web,

I hope you are well.

I’m working on project, with iGaming Business magazine managing and editing a series of industry reports over the coming year. The first is on Affiliate Marketing. The Affiliate Marketing report will be marketed throughout the year, with the first location being the Amsterdam Affiliate Conference. The report will contain quality articles from well known experts and visionaries within the igaming affiliate marketing field. The aim is to produce a 60,000 word ‘textbook’ to accompany affiliates and affiliate managers in their businesses in 2009.

I am messaging you as I would like you to be one of the contributing writers to the report, so please let me know if this is of interest. Having looked at the GPWA forum at some of your comments, remarks and insights, I think you would be an excellent addition to the growing list of knowledgeable and well known affiliates that have agreed to write for the report. Once I have your confirmation we can discuss topics, but if you have a topic in mind, then please let me know. Each author will be fully credited with a short bio also included in the piece. I am looking at a deadline of around Friday 10th April for submission of your article.

I appreciate your help on this and hope to be working with you on this report. Please also send me your email address, so we can communicate with each other more easily.

Maybe I should elaborate: I've written enough articles that were "suppose" to give me a link credit that aren't there any more or were sold shortly afterwards etc. Always some reason for why the link credit isn't there any more ...

to know its worth asking around before spending the time involved.

I know Justina, I'll vouch for her. I was curious where that email had come from as well, since I haven't been approached LOL... but Justina is an old friend and certainly on the up and up, so the only thing remaining for me is to pinch her and ask why I haven't been invited

The initial approach is a cookie cut sales pitch.

Justina may be an "old friend" but she's mass e-mailing that same series of lines verbatim to a lot of affiliates.

I doubt she checked any GPWA posts, I doubt that she has a real opinion on the capabilities on any of the recipients.

It appears to be just casting the net to see which fish she catches to write a free article for a body of work that she will collate and sell.

Received the same tossed it aside. Simply was not sure regarding the authenticity of the PM. No time to check it out either. Aside from that I am no expert nor professional in this field. Cyber crime maybe?

It does seem as if Justina has sent the same request to quite a number of affiliates. As far as I know this is not happening any more and she is now aware that sending PMs is not the best way to contact affiliates.

I can only vouch for her as a person and she is definitely not doing this with any ill intentions though I too thought it was an unusual request (I didn't get one myself).

Anyhow, this is also being discussed in another thread so perhaps we should keep the discussion confined to that one...

I don't know, but when someone claims PM you based on false pretenses, that's spam. In this case the false pretense was that I was receiving the PM based on my quality posts and contributions to GPWA. In this case it wasn't so.

I think it's nothing but a scam using the good reputed name of Miss Justina. Say, if someone really complied to the PM and submitted some article, how would they know that they really put it in the textbooks or just posted it somewhere for their site or blog.

I don't think that is quite true. I was contacted by her via e-mail and I found her website marmaLade (xxx http://www.dropofmarmalade.com) which is in the making where you can read in the 'About Us' section that she is offering a consultancy service for the online gaming industry.

Spearmaster - thanks for your support. You are correct, in hindsight I would have not chosen to invite affiliates by PM. It was a mistake and apologies to everyone who has felt offended by me contacting them this way. It was all done in good faith. Also, I will email you separately.

As for the content of the email, yes it is the same for most. Some people did get slight variations. I have a big task in managing and editing this report, which calls for me to be as efficient as possible. From what I have read, a few of you are telling me that when they are inviting 200 plus people for something, and you would like to make initial contact in a 'private messaging' environment, that they would write an entirely different email to each and every person. If that is the case, then I would like to take time management classes from you It's very common practice to do what I did, in any industry. It's just that, on this occasion, my private message was made public - which does not normally happen. Once the initial contact was made with the 20 people I had specially chosen then I would conduct a more personal approach.

I DID research affiliates posts for days on end. Which meant trying to sift through and make sense of the 7000 plus members here. I chose to invite people who I felt embraced the community spirit, were helpful in posts, made sense and gave good advice. I invited 20 people on GPWA - 20 people from 7000 so I was targeted in who I contacted. There is a mix of people I invited from very experienced, intermediate and beginner. I saw something in the people's posts that I thought would help bring out the best in the report.

As far as I know the report is only going to be available in a hard copy format. It is compiled in a professional manner and a lot of my time and work is being put into this to create something that will be of benefit to affiliates and affiliate programmes.

I am very proud that myself and my company are involved in these reports. It is a good thing for the industry. It is a good thing for affiliates. Speculation about my intentions is misfounded. I only operate in a professional and ethical manner and with the utmost integrity in what I do. I take my work very seriously, so I hope that this post along with my post at Gambling Affiliate Place (I can't post links yet but please see link in ThePokerKeep's post in this thread) will help clear up some of the confusion.
