That drug is a widely used/abused drug in the US - though it does not seem to be quite at the "popularity" level of Australia.

Aussies never seem to be able to do anything in moderation. So many nanny state laws regarding alcohol and nightlife because of it. Just another example of it with drugs which IMO are a huge problem in the Aussie culture.

Until it was mentioned it in the first post on the topic, I had no idea that Australia had such a "problem" with meth. In fact, I thought similar to what you had thought (that it was only really problematic in my country). The drug is referenced on our local news all the time. It seems like there is at least one "meth lab" or "mobile meth lab" that is busted every day. Although, Heroin use seems to be a bigger problem in my area. So many young kids are dying from heroin overdose here. It is all really sad.

The apartment I live in now was busted for having a meth lab about 6 years ago when I first moved into the building (I lived in the apartment across the hall). Heroin isn't really something that you hear much about here. We have methadone clinics where they can go and get help to get off it though so maybe that's why. Cocaine use is pretty rampant here too. There are a lot of business people who are functioning addicts. I think that's not something isolated to Australia though.
I know so many people who have tried Ice. And a lot of them will go years without smoking it then all of a sudden start on it again and ruin their lives. As someone who's never done any illicit drugs (I used to smoke, and I drink alcohol occasionally), I guess I'll never understand it.

This is really a rare situation for German police watchers.

The audience should know, that in Germany police violence on the streets is really very, very rare.

In this case two out of four police officers lost their marbles.
Both have been suspended.
Two others who were also at the scene are no longer allowed to go on the streets.
They must sit behind their computers in the police station as long as everything is cleared.

This incident happened already on 19. February 2017!

After the video went viral on social networks the police now claims, that the man was ordered to stop smoking because of a car accident and fuel on the street. He refused and allegedly attacked a police officer.

There is no footage right now that can prove the claim of the police.
And we have still no body-cams here in Germany.

However, even if this was the case, there is no reason that two police men beating an unarmed with their truncheons so long and so hard.

And for German standards this is really shocking!

Restaurants without a special licence are marked with "B.Y.O" ("Bring your own"). That means, guests finally can take their beer out of the sack or bring anything else from home into the restaurant to get drunk.
