Frank returns to horse racing: Do banks have to block horse racing transactions...

ABA: You might know where the race took place, but you might not know where the bet took place. Suspects banks would block transaction, and would block more legal transactions so they wouldn't miss the illegal ones.

Guittierrez: I'm not convinced that banks should be the sheriffs in this. So many people when they charge something have a different name, I'd hate to think what banks would have to go through.

Awesome coverage, and thank you SO MUCH for doing this!

Other than they seem to generally agree that it's a stupid law, and unenforceable, the most Dis-Heartening comments were that NOBODY THERE EVEN KNEW THAT THE UK, AND the EU HAVE ALREADY MOVED TO REGULATION!

It is truly amazing that these KEY people could be SO UNINFORMED!

IE: the best comment by vinism!

Vinism note: Apparently, they've never heard of the U.K. or the EU.

Well done, Vin - much appreciated.

Someone should casually mention to the lawmakers that if they had any guts in the first place, they would've removed UIGEA from the Port Security Bill before passing it - that way they wouldn't be wasting so much time on legislation that is never going to work.

Vinism is likely too shy to post it here himself, but he wrote an excellent analysis of the hearing ...
