    Default PR Update

It seems that Google has done a bit of page ranking update, I have noticed my site http://www.betting-bonuses.co.uk go from PR1 to PR2 and some inner pages at http://www.lowriskwinner.com have increased too

Anybody else had any increases (or decreases)?

Yes I had nice increases on all my sites. Many went from 0 to 2 as they are still pretty new.

hmmm, didn't really notice until readying this post. My site is still at PR 2, but I am fine with that since it took a huge hit post-Penguin. Many of my inner pages also have PR now too, which they didn't before. I think I am regaining authority in Google's eyes. Also think some of the changes and restructuring of the site has paid off too.

Slowly but surely my site seems to be climbing out from under the Penguin.

Anyone know what the "h" next to a PR means. I have been noticing this a lot lately and couldn't find anything about it online.

Still the same PR3 for me. The PageRank has almost 0 value today though.

If we all "understood" the Google algo, then surely we could just do everything Google wanted, and all be at the top, if only it was that simple.

I stopped paying attention to PR altogether about a year ago and I can tell you that since then I've been able to dedicate that time to what actually matters: content.

I know that everyone is probably already tired of the "Content is King" catchphrase, but I've experienced this first hand. It takes a long time, but it pays off and the benefits are long-lasting.

PR is not the most important thing but is relevant in many ways. Referring to the thread...not many changes in the last update.

I have not looked at a PageRank number for a very very long time.

The "Tool Bar PR"(the pagerank number you see) has little to no relation to where a page is ranking.
That is why pages with a visible tool bar PR of 2 will outrank PR 3 and 4 pages for the same query.

There is a PR number that is used to rank sites, but it is internal for google only and we don't get to see it.

When you chase that tool bar PR number... google has you chasing a carrot on a stick... A carrot that does not even exist.

Good luck with your PR updates.

    Hah lots0 well said.

Another type of metrics that I now start to ignore is nofollow vs dofollow or the myth that nofollow has 0 value.

Not true. Nofollow just doesn't pass PR. Then again we reach to the fact that PR has zero value. So then why bother struggling to get x amount of dofollow and y amount of nofollow backlinks. Just let things flow *naturally*.

Also, when exchanging links between sites, some webmasters may not accept some new sites saying that they have 0 PR.

That is correct, but those that have that policy may have a higher toolbar pr but that does NOT mean their sites rank better in the SERPS. It just means they have more green in the pretty little green bar....

    Hello,

that is exactly my experience and my personal opinion.

The whole spam techniques such as paid links or dozends of free blog SEO pages without real content are increasingly being discovered and punished by Google. That's a good thing.

Anyone who thinks that with a few thousand dollars and paid links, he is the better webmaster, is going wrong.
The Internet is not a dump. Surfers have a right to see good websites, good content.

And it seems that Google rewards good content.

Doorway pages, link farms and similar filth has no place on the Internet. That's my opinion, and I stand by it.

    Leopold
