Default PokerNations Social Network Launching In 1 Month!

The PokerNations.com social network is on schedule to launch within one month to the public.

In addition, members who work or operate companies within the gambling industry will be welcome to free Official Profiles to promote their brands on our site.

We'll bring industry members onboard within a few weeks, so you can get setup before we open to the general public.

We'll also have a select group of poker enthusiasts on the site early to generate content (blogs, forum posts, photo uploads, etc) so when we open to the general public they don't find a blank slate.

To ensure your company or organization is represented at www.PokerNations.com please email marketing@pokernations.com soon!

    Hey Mojo!

We're going to have a lot of different profile categories on our network. So the profile for a regular member will be different than that for a pro player, or a casino, for instance.

I believe the sites in your signature link are mostly SEO-enhanced pages with affiliate banners (i.e. they don't provide an ongoing service or relationship with the players). So while such sites would be ineligible for an Official Profile, we will have an "Industry Member (non-pro)" category that you can have for yourself on the network, where you can list your company, position, etc.

Our network will be setup so that you can signup as any variety of profile types (i.e. land-based casino, poker professional, etc).

While there won't be a category that your websites would fall into for an Official Profile, you as an individual working in the gambling industry could still have an Official Profile that represents you personally, and protects your personal brand/identity/name

Is there an option too for Profile Customization. I mean an additional theme option for your profile just to add up some spice on my profile..

One of the things we're looking to avoid are the horrors of Myspace. Users were granted too much freedom to completely mess up their profiles (i.e. customizations made would result in the "add me" and "message me" buttons disappearing, or people would overload their pages with so much crap it would freeze or crash browsers)

So part of our goal is to ensure that when someone visits your profile, they know exactly where specific information will be located.

Industry members will have a field on their profile to enter some html code, so you can put in links, banners, etc. But initially there will be limited customization in that regard, and no playing around with the CSS to ensure a standard design that is accessible to the viewer.

In the future we may consider providing some themes or customization capabilities, just not at the outset.

We've already been doing internal testing, but we'll be bringing on early access and industry members in a few weeks.

Just finalizing some features and coding on the site before we do that

Ok Sir. As long as it provides a link it could be better. I will be waiting for that one soon. If the community will work out good and members are begin to expand, a new feature will continuously be applied, that's for sure.

Certainly. We'll have a section in our forum specifically for members to give suggestions on features they'd like to see implemented or changed.

    PokerNations Account Creation

Our site is now open at www.pokernations.com and you may signup. Be aware that we are still considered under construction. This means you may encounter bugs and/or unfinished features; the work is ongoing. We have brought on admins and moderators, as well as a small group of poker enthusiasts to get started, but our public launch isn't until the end of August. You are welcome to get started now, but we ask that you do not use our sites built-in invite feature until the end of the month. We are anticipating a total membership within our first full-year of operation to reach between 30-50 thousand members.

    Choosing Your Account Type

PokerNations features over 25 profile categories. Unlike Myspace, you won't find a Casino with an age and sex, for example. Depending on your needs, you may qualify to utilize multiple accounts on our network. For example, an online gaming site can have a separate profile for their Casino, Poker, Sportsbook and Bingo operations. A land-based Casino could have separate profiles for their Casino, Poker Room, Dining Establishments, Entertainment Venues and Shopping options.

If you are a member of the industry (i.e. employee, company owner) and not a professional poker player, we have an Industry Member category that you can have for your personal use. This way you have a personal account in addition to a company account to represent your brand. Many companies have pros or celebrities that promote them (i.e. online gaming sites, poker coaching companies, etc). In those instances, the company has its own profile, but then each pro or celebrity can also have one as well, giving you greater exposure across our network. If you are unsure of what account type you should select, please email me and I will assist.

    Official Profile Badging

To protect your brand/name, we offer Official Profile badges for no charge. These let our members know that the profile or blog their reading actually comes from you. After you've created your account, please email me with your username so I can get the badge applied to your account.

Top Users vs Top Rated & Poker Chips Reward System

Our site features two listing pages, one for Top Users, and one for Top Rated. When you are active on our network, your account will earn Poker Chips. Poker Chips are then used to enter into site giveaways that we'll offer (this is still being coded, members can earn chips but not spend them at this time). Your total Poker Chip accumulated balance (regardless of chips spent or transferred) will determine your accounts placement on the Top Users Page.

Industry members are not eligible to enter our giveaways (it would upset our members greatly if well-known pros or companies were to win our giveaways). But Industry accounts will have the ability to transfer their poker chips to other members. You are not permitted to sell the Poker Chips, but you could run contests of your own via your blog, in our forum, etc. to award some or all of your Poker Chip balance to other members.

When our Giveaway system is in place, PokerNations will be offering up a number of monthly and yearly giveaways, many of which are already planned. But this will also be a useful tool for Industry Members looking to promote their products, brands or services. If you'd like to offer something up to be featured in our Giveaway system, please email marketing@pokernations.com

The Top Rated page is completely different. All member accounts feature a ratings block of 1-10 stars beneath the members profile picture. Other members can rate you once (and can change their vote at anytime) and then our system will generate a Top 5 List for each profile category (i.e. Top 5 Casinos, Top 5 Poker Pros, etc) on our Top Rated page. There is also an option to View All for each category, in case you missed the Top 5 and would like to see where you rank. The system is coded with a Bayesian Weighted mathematical ranking script.

    Advertising & Spam

We are trying to avoid the problems that plague sites like Myspace and Facebook, where members are inundated with spam comments, private messages or offers to join groups whose sole purpose is to push a product or service upon them.

We have a built-in advertising system that ties into Industry Member accounts. This allows you to create and track campaigns, view impressions, clicks and click through rates as well. Advertising is completely optional and you are still welcome to a free Official Profile regardless. More details on paid and free advertising options and rules may be viewed in this forum topic:

Yes, we're very honored to have such fine organizations onboard our network this early in our launch.

A number of folks are on vacation since the summer is coming to a close, thus the reason we haven't seen as many industry members come onboard.

But we have seen a number of online gambling portals join up to be represented, as well as Bluff and Cardplayer, and even the Poker Players Alliance.

And in the coming weeks we expect additional companies and poker pros will be joining our ranks as the network grows.

If any programs are thinking about asking us, I should mention upfront that PokerNations is an industry neutral site. We do not operate as an affiliate, nor share in MGR/CPA.

We will not have an agenda for any product, brand or service over that of another. This allows us to present the greatest possible resource to the players and the industry, where all are welcome to interact and share.

I joined PN last week and must say that Anthony is doing a hell of a job! The forums are active already with some serious poker strategy discussions mixed in with a bunch of "fun" threads.... some are absolutely hilarious!

The mods and admin are friendly and attentive. Anthony quickly welcomed me aboard and personally fixed a sizing issue with my avatar without even being asked. He seems to be online 24/7, not sure when he finds time to sleep....

So far, I've really enjoyed my time there. Everyone is friendly and the site has some awesome features for affiliates to take advantage of. I have created 2 profiles (which is allowed!), one for my rakeback site and another for my brand new "poker store". No one is spamming their businesses on the forum or in PM's which is quite refreshing.

If you haven't taken time to pop in yet, do so! I predict Pokernations is going to become a huge hit for poker players and those of us in the poker industry.
