PokerRoom.com and CasinoRoom.com closing down

PokerRoom.com and CasinoRoom.com are going out of business, according to Gambling911. Both rooms were 10 years old.

The company has notified players and affiliates of its decision to shut down:

"I would like to inform you that the option to play poker on PokerRoom and CasinoRoom will be disabled on Tuesday the 14th of April. The remaining players will only have the option to transfer to bwin after they log in."

The ability to switch their accounts to bwin is key, says Payton O'Brien of Gambling911.com.

"The good news is that bwin is a well established and respected brand. This means that players funds will be safe."

I'm wondering if they'll gonna sell their domains. Also, when I visit their site, they have no open notice that they'll going to close down into an specific date. Does the casino site still accept players?

All the sign up links on the pokerroom.com page lead to BWIN' s sign up page with a notice that pokerroom is now BWIN. They will probably keep the pokerroom home page and just take the traffic across to bwin.

I am sort of sad to see it go - pokerroom was the first ever site I played for real money on in early 2006.

I, too, am sad to see PokerRoom.com close down. They were very promising before they closed out US players in the wake of the UIGEA. And I still have a nifty chip set from them, thanks to a win in a media tournament the night before their "Become a PokerRoom Pro Tournament" that they hosted on a cruise I covered in my first month with Casino City.

I am sure it will fetch a tidy sum. I did a whois and se the domain is paid till 2011-04-14, was purchased 1998-04-15

That's a real shame to hear PokerRoom.com is closing.

I met the guys who set it up a few years back and had a cracking night out with them in Sweden. Hope they get out on a high.

I was thinking they'd closed down once before ... any old timers remember if that is true?
