Default Proper WMT Setup After Move To HTTPS?

Switching some sites to SSL - I can't find any reliable info on what exactly I need to do in WMT to keep things smooth.

I've read in one place you want to create a new property for each version (http:/http:/www/https:/https://www) - is that accurate? If so, do you then create a "set" for all four properties?

Isn't just one version of the actual version used (aka https://www) ok?

Current scenario is sites are listed in one property, only the www as that as the version we use. What exactly should I do within WMT after changing to SSL?

I'm honestly amazed Google has made this as difficult to understand as it is in WMT - changing in Analytics was very simple.

@MJM do not get complicated, just add the https version, for example: https//:www.misite.com/
