I gave him the name in complete confidence & trust - if he reveals it publicly he is breaching my trust, an affiliate's trust, which I see as more damaging than this issue in itself.

If you think this one-off incident is worth pulling all your Rival casinos over - well that is your prerogative, but I'm definitely not pulling mine!

Well just about every forum I visit has a rule about not putting links to your website in your actual posts.
Members are usually only allowed to put links in their signatures, which are automatically attached to each post (it's easier too!)
But I don't know what the rules are here, as being new I confess I haven't read them!

In closing this issue I have tried to judge what went wrong and where. I have never been a juror in a court case, but now I can understand just how difficult is to find the truth in a conflict between two parties blaming each other for a crime!

There was definitely a problem with my linking code; no-one is denying that. But whose fault was it?
Even if it were Rival, they wouldn’t want to admit liability because it would reflect badly on them and all their casinos.
Equally the casino wouldn’t want to admit it because it could make them look bad.
What I’m trying to say is personally I don’t believe everything Rival told John, or everything the casino told me, was the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
But what I do believe is that this was an isolated incident which only effected myself, since not one other affiliate has come forward with any evidence of the same problem, so lets not all make a mountain out of a mole-hill.

The casino has now allocated me an acceptable number of players (who weren't tagged to any other affiliates) to make up for my 'lost' conversions, which seems a fair outcome to me.
This was done as good-will gesture, and not an admission of blame.
Yes, they were very slow in getting me any answers, but to be honest I can't say if that was entirely their fault or if they were waiting for Rival to respond, as they claimed. There is no way for me to be sure.

As far as I am concerned, I am now convinced this was a one-off glitch. I'm still not sure who was responsible, but personally I still lean towards the software writers. However, I am sure it was accidental & bore no malice of forethought from whichever party was responsible. The damage has been put right, so it's over for me.

End of story – case closed.

BTW I do not like to see programs allocating untagged players to affiliate accounts to solve an issue : tracking should be as is and keep hands off player data.

If there was an error on both sides it does not seem right to manually interfere : this is SO wrong . I just can not believe this !!!
