Yes, 100%. Adding FAQ increases engagement with your search result, although as far as I know it doesn't increase CTR.

Landing featured snippets makes your CTR increase to 80-90% for that term.

If it's a ranking factor; for sure. I have seen 0 backlink sites, with the same amount of content as all the 100RD sites in top 10's. Yet the schema optimized site managed to land the featured snippet.

Agree to everything DunderMannen is writing. What I have experienced is that a Table Of Contents can help your rankings and CTR a lot..

I personally haven't noticed much difference, luck of the draw sometimes I think. I did spend a bit of time adding schema ratings to all our reviews, then Google decided to no longer allow self-serving ratings, although some do still show. I do try and add a FAQ schema to some of my new content, those pages do tend to rank higher from what I have seen.

I could definitely say that it was a ranking factor a year ago. As I saw some positive impact on rankings but now I don't see a big difference.

Yes, it's definitely a ranking factor in terms of seo, and it's always been a helpful tool.

So are "review" type schemas no longer useful?

Maybe you can elaborate in your personal experience, using schema on your site. I can't seem to find any "schema" data on usaplayerswelcome.com, all I can find is very outdated coding, using (1) huge table layout. A site that resembles a glorified banner-farm, is pretty close.

Schema use probably indicates to google that the site is attempting to stay current with Google induced fads - and so I can see how the Google boffins will include it as a ranking factor in their precious algo.

We've gone to quite a bit of work to implement several schemas - and although it helps the way my sites search results are presented when I search for them - I did NOT see any great boost in rankings or traffic ... no effect at all.

Mind you - if I had not done so - then perhaps my site would have dropped in the rankings being passed by sites that DID?
    Who can really tell ???

Not suggesting this is proof one way or the other (because it most definitely isn't)...but it's not too hard to find search queries where the top returned pages (in the organic listings) do not carry any schema.

Which suggests that no, schema per se is not a ranking factor for the 1 to n positions, or if it is in any way then it's secondary to multiple other factors.

There's very little doubt though that schema might land you a featured snippet position so you'll have jumped the 'ordinary' organic positions, so from that perspective it helps 'ranking'. Equally it might help 'enrich' your listing somewhat to encourage more clicks.

If you think about it logically it couldn't/shouldn't be a ranking factor.

    Why?

Because it's just another thing that can be easily manipulated .....like links, right!! And we all know where links get you!

While schema markup is not listed as a ranking factor as yet, Google has stated that it is a criterion that may factor in its ranking algorithm in the near future.

its very rare that you see an all 100% text result in the top 10 nowadays, especially for mobile, schema incorporates title, text and images which is pretty much a requirement,, cant say for sure but it would seem so,

Back when review type Thing, was a thing literally every result had rich snippets. Saw no substantial difference, or increased CTR. In a field with 10 pages all having them, how exactly would it stand out ?

These days, some have them some don't but I personally think it's a good practice to wrap your content with it. Highly doubt it's a ranking signal, or at least significant one. As much as https is, in a field where page 1 to 55 have https.

Schema have no direct, positive effect on rankings. They are used by some of the selection algorithms. However, violating the structured markup guidelines may result in a page's being demoted in rankings.

Some people hold the view that "if you have to first be chosen to be ranked, then selection affects ranking." I think that's an over-simplification but I acknowledge the point of view.

The search engines rely on structured markup mostly to improve the informative quality of their listings. So I'd say proper use of Schema should improve click-through rates.

The search engines do not track engagement signals for rankings, except in personalized search results.

So, yes, there are indirect, positive improvements for some sites using Schema. But merely adding FAQ markup to pages won't help and could hurt if they're not truly FAQ pages.

i think it is not a ranking factor. Schema.org is just a tool which helps you to increase your CRT in Google SERP

While schema markup is not listed as a ranking factor as yet, Google has stated that it is a criterion that may factor in its ranking algorithm in the near future. Additionally, there are many web pages that are missing out on the potential benefits of this feature.

Schema markup is an indirect ranking factor, not a direct one.

When we added schema to one of our sites we saw a small bump in rankings but this is most likely due to the increased CTR we had on the SERPS

100% no, but it can boost your CTR on search results and if user click on your website better than website near with you - it is factor.
