Once the money paid out would be 8 figures, so over the top of the budget, be prepared to steal everything with all kinds of excuses.
Like seriously. Once in the not so far past I was asked by Bwin to reduce my commission in France from 35% to 30% or something like that, because they have a lower "budget".
There is no more red flag word than budget in affiliate industry. Pay attention to it. It is really like in the Godfather movie.

They dropped affiliates, but they managed anyway to get themselves into troubles with the UKGC.
They've always been running. Just for a few select Affiliates with a new url to log into - I've seen it.
What they did was criminal. Essentially boosting profits by cutting affiliate payments in order to push the price up to sell the brand.
If they were to reopen the program on a large scale wouldn't this put a planner in their whole argument that they closed the aff program for compliance reasons. Ie: are they potentially shooting themselves in the foot with this?

Exactly this.
Here's proof the program never closed - https://www.igbaffiliate.com/in-dept...and-shut-case/

Would it really matter? The only people likley to complain will be us Affiliates that were shafted when they "closed down". We unfortunately don't count for S***. All we can do is not work with them if they open up again. But over time, most affiliates will forget and new affiliates won't know and they'll build a new business and nothing will stop them. That's the reality of the business we are in i'm afriad.

When they "shut down" the program, they switched all the deals that they kept to CPA only.
You'd think that the big affs (we know the ones) would actually be against this because it cost them loads of money, but because there were only a handful of them that were kept on they went with it. If they open up with a Revshare again we might actually see some of these names asking for their revshare deals back, with the backdated revshare too. That would be the only way that Skybet would actually take any notice of us lot. We need one or two of the big boys to testify that they were not only still running campaigns, but were also still using the same tracking links etc.
Will never happen though.

This is unfortunately so true. Affiliates are their own worst enemy. In the us-facing market, BetUS did the same thing. Recently BetUS started up again (via revmasters) and so many of the affiliates that were robbed blind by these crooks are now promoting them again. And BetUS continue to rip off and steal from the players referred to them. Yet still burned affiliates (not just new ones), knowing their players are being conned, have started to promote them again. This is the nature of affiliates: short-termist, without backbone and simply can't hold their ground. No wonder we are treated with such contempt.
It was.
Over two years I spent almost 6 figures on legal fees, and Skybets lawyers essentially blocked every stage by replying late to requests or just flat out denying that there was an issue. Eventually I thought "wtf am I doing spending all this cash - they're never going to admit anything", and sadly had to make the decision to drop proceedings.

Sorry to hear that, I was out of the industry when they closed the program but was keeping a little eye on what was going on
