What songs were amazing for you?

When I was 12 years old this song came out. By Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five. I listened to it daily for years and used to go roller skating to a place called the Terrace in Toronto and tear up the floor with this song. It gave me energy LOL.
I listened to it all the way up to 16 years of age.

For me if we were talking about first songs that I can remember that I was amazed by I would say this one:

I was around 11 or 12 also and I was going through my parents Records and playing them on the record player.

My mum had a limited edition Queen album which she had picked up in America whilst there as an air stewardess.

The album sleeve immediately got me as it had reflective silver parts and this tune on it which blew my mind!

That was a huge tune. I remember that album. My older brother and sister used to play that daily! Loved it as well.

Definitely the Beastie Boys were a big influence, along with Doug e Fresh, Slick Rick, Africa Bambaataa, Roxanne Shante and the such like. A misspent childhood but a good one carrying around my boom box (with lots of spare batteries) a roll of lino and hanging with my mates breakdancing in North London shopping centre's like Wood Green with the occasional far away trip to Brent cross.... I cant even do crazy legs anymore!

Beaties Boys are monsters. One of the best songs and texts. "Intergalactic" was a big hit for a long time. And I can hear in my ears the song with the text : "You got to fight for your right to partyyyyyy.... ".
