Default Walker Poker - "an error on their system"

I went to Walker Poker to check my balance. I had not played there in several months. To my surprise my account was at $0.00. I checked the History Tab and saw where it stated "adjustment, 2010-01-10, -$101.69.

I sent an email to their support on Friday Jan 29th. Received an auotmated message stating they were referring my email to "the relevant department".

Had not heard back so I sent an email asking if they had determined what had happened. I got an email from them on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.

It stated; "Please be informed that the $101.69 real money has been returned to your account." But they offered no explanation as to why it happened in the first place.

I sent another email asking for an explanation and this is what support stated; "It was an error on our system. We are sorry for the confusion."

I am posting this so that fellow poker players are aware that Walker Poker experienced the above issue. I am hopeful that it was to only my account but would encourage people to check their poker balances.

This issue was not on my affiliate account. It happened only to my poker account.

They have one of those "we can claim your money if you fail to log in" clauses...

INACTIVE ACCOUNTS. WalkerPoker.com/Mergegaming reserves the right to deduct a minimal fee from users listed as "inactive", i.e. users who do not "log in" to their account using their user ID and password for a period of 4 months. The user's corresponding "real money" account will be deducted each month the account remains inactive. At the time when the account be reactivated by the user - the account will be listed as "active", and the fee will no longer apply.

Dear LapLizard, thepokerkeep and GPWA members,

My name is Lisa Muller and I'm a VIP manager at WalkerPoker.

I would like to reply to your post and clarify a few things if I may. Your account, Mr. LapLizard, among others was inactive for an extended period of time. Therefore, we have sent several e-mails to all inactive players with positive balance in their account. Consequently, players who did not reply, their accounts were set to inactive, but money was never taken away from them. Furthermore, it should be noted that as soon as you contacted us, the account was re-activated and I personally had sent you an explanatory e-mail.

All of you, who are interested in asking further questions, are more than welcomed to contact me and I will be happy to answer and assist in any way I can.

    Thank you,
    Lisa Muller

So what exactly is an extended period of time? Afterall the site itself has been open what 18months maximum?
Surely if a person chooses not to play for a while that is his/her prerogative isnt it?

Also Lisa I was wondering how you became aware of this post considering you are a public member and this is your 1st post here at the forum.

Well Lisa, then how do you explain the original post?

I checked the History Tab and saw where it stated "adjustment, 2010-01-10, -$101.69.
It sure looks like there was a "flushing" of the inactive accounts. Thanks for taking care of business and placing the funds back in his account, but don't take us as fools that the funds were not removed.

I think the heart of the matter is the "Inactive Account" clause.

I see no reason for this clause to exist. And before I hear the old "it's part of Merge's T&C's" excuse let me tell you that just because Merge has that clause in their terms, does not mean their clients/skins have to include it.

Reefer Poker is also a Merge client and they do not include any type of "abandonment of account" clause in their terms.

If a player wants to take a few months break, why the hell should the poker room penalize him?

It makes more sense for the poker room to offer incentives to the player... try to entice him to play again. Or contact the players and ask why they are no longer active. The feedback would be a valuable tool for the room and would help them to improve the players experience.

    Hello Lisa Muller,

First let me say Thank You for posting here and replying to my post. I now understand that my account was put on inactive status. But the real money did show -$101.69 in my history. It was returned as +$101.69 in my history. But this might be the only way to handle such transactions when an account is placed as inactive and then returned as active.

I do want to say that Walker Poker sending emails to players is a great idea and I am sure it helped many players. But I did not receive even one such email. I checked my email folder for Walker Poker going back to June 1 2009.

Also, can you resend that explanatory e-mail. I can not find it Lisa and I would like to have that. Your email may clear up some things for me and I would very much like to read it. It may have went directly to my junk folder by mistake.

Again Thanks for posting here. I think it is very important for any of us here to have a contact like yourself.
