    Default The weirdest way..

What the weirdest way someone has spelt your name?

I have to say this is one of my pet peeves... people who write your name in your email address, then spell your name wrong.. you just wrote it properly once, why not again?!

And besides, theres a pretty obvious way to spell my surname if you say it how it sounds!!!

    Anyway... share!

My name is Kim, only 3 letters, so you'd think it would be difficult to get it wrong - wrong!

I've had a few people spell it Kym, and many have really annoyed me by saying my real name must be Kimberly. It's not, never has been and never will be - and I have the birth certificate etc to prove it!

It's really kind of hard to mess up Beth, but my last name get butchered ALLL the time. Not to mention, people assume my full first name is Bethenny or some spelling of that name and it's not. It's Elizabeth and once I told someone and it took them a minute to process it and then go "OHHHH, I get it... Beth is at the end of it... Eliza-BETH... got it!" haha oh well!

    LOL

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets this...

My last name is spelt "Mate"

It's Hungarian, and pronounced not as it looks, but being that people are idiots, I just say it how it looks and people STILL can't spell it..

I say Mate, they say "and how do you spell that", and I'm like "Mate, you know like friend?"
And we live in Australia for crying out loud!!

I've actually just resorted to spelling it instead of saying it now.. It's so annoying!

And people spell my first name usually as Rene. People don't realise that's the male way of spelling my name.

And I hear your pain with the shortened name too guys.. I have a friend who's name is Melek and she calls herself Mel and people automatically think its Melanie or Melinda or something.. And she looks full blown Turkish.. People just assume I guess because they are uneducated LOL

I have quite a difficult (and Irish) surname. So I once had this job that entailed me using my name as an order reference, like 20 times a day. So I got sick of it and decided to use a name that was easy to spell.

I picked Rix (R-I-X I would say) easy as hell! As you all know my first name is Pat.

It didn't take long for me to get my first order with P.RICKS as the reference........

My first name is Terry. Period! Yet, the government will not accept that! They insist my name is Terrence.

My birth certificate lists my name as Terry but all other documents (drivers license, health card, SIN card) list my name as Terrence.... FFS!!

Then there are the folks who spell my name Teri or Terri - the female versions.

To make matters worse, my wife's name is Dale. So when we are introduced to people, I automatically become Dale and my wife becomes Terry..... sigh!

My name is Heather and it drives me around the bend when people shorten it and refer to me as "Heath"
Isn't it amazing when you have a short name people feel the need to lengthen it and when you have a long name people feel the need to shorten it!!

I also frequently get called " Heater" and "Hedder"

My surname is Gartland which is always changed to "Garthland", "Gatland" or " Cartland" and I get asked if I am a relative of Barbara Cartland.

In my next life I want to be called Mary Brown!

Actually .....that is not a good idea either because my maiden name was Brown and it was changed to Browne, Bruin and Brown Eye ( but thats another story )

so I guess we can't win

Thats kinda funny though Terry... If you think about it... How ironic that your wife has a name that is usually for a man...

Sorry to laugh, but that just made my day

Terrence... how on earth is it possible that the government decides what they want as your name on your license etc? Dont you have to fill that stuff out on your own and show your birth certificate etc? I dont understand that one..
