    Default Why?

    • Why is it that affiliates are no longer just accepting normal commission structures from affiliate programs e.g 35% rev share?
    • Why is it some affiliates are charging up to £100 CPA's but then they cannot guarantee you a certain amount of FTD?
    • Why is it that some affiliates charge a tenancy fee, CPA and rev share but again cannot guarantee you traffic or FTD?
I understand that being an affiliate takes up alot of your time but is this not suppose to be a mutual business relationship between affiliate and affiliate programs?

Does affiliates with the high ranking websites really run this show??

What does a normal affiliate business model look like?

lots of very daft questions but lets see the responses

Hmmm, maybe because we are sick of being promised "players for life", only to get screwed over by programs a year later. Much of affiliate traffic comes from SERPS, yet affiliate programs expect us to be responsible for player value and retention. I'll ask you, how?

In poker, if we send players on revenue share, that is just silly, because eventually these players are going to leave our trackers to get rakeback somewhere. CPA is the way to go now days.

usually when I make deals i make sure that I have discussed all t&c's with an affiliate.

everything then goes okay for 3 months but then the program realise the traffic that was sent from the affiliate is part of a fraud group

If you are not getting what you signed up for who's problem is that? CPA is fine provided you can meet the Terms of the CPA??

But maybe I am just lost??

Sorry I dont agree with you, I offer rakeback on Action Poker of 35% which isnot huge but its okay, as an affiliate you would earn 15%, the 15% will destroy any CPA over a period of time normal 45 days, when i work with affiliates I see it as a partnership that is why i am huge fan of rev share.

With regards to retention of players I notice that the affiliates that assit me with retention tend to be the highest paid ones within Wager Profits.

    Just my thoughts.

Its an industry based on trust, but the trust factor is overwhelmingly on the part of affiliates not the program providers.

The only way to try to address the balance is by naming and shaming programs that are on the "fiddle" on platforms such as gpwa, the word should soon get round.

I am agree with you 100% an operator that is found guilty of wrong doing should be exposed in public.

What does a normal affiliate business model look like?

lots of very daft questions but lets see the responses

I think its basic economics - A big affiliate gets daily requests form a whole variety of trustworthy affiliate programs (and rogues) and can't work with them all so if a number of programmes bid up the rev share or introduce tennancy then of course the affiliate is going to take it and then very quickly these methods become the norm until it gets too much and the programmes stop making money and thus the numbers and deals begin to reduce

With rogue affiliates that take the pi$$ and don't deliver well I think as an AM you should be doing due dilligence on the affiliate which could be basic research, talking to other AM's or proper analysis on the affiliate's sites or methods to gain players -

Its the same with an affiliate when they choose a program, many will offer stupidly high CPA's or rev share per cents but these are pointless when the programme doesn't pay, skims players or intro's new T&C's SO its in an affiliates interest to also do due diligence on a program which again can be as simple as searching GPWA, PAL, CAP, AGD etc, speaking to other affiliates, testing them with a few players or what ever.

Anyway, what I am saying is that if you are going to pay a higher than average CPA, tennancy, or high rev share do some research and you may not run into so many problems - Of course this is more work and takes time and you won't always be right but you will certainly have a more positive effect on your business.

Do other platforms like newspapers, TV, radio and such like offer gauarantees on return, no they dont but product providers pay good money to get on those platforms, so why should affiliates have to be forced to offer guarantees?

Affiliate programs do not easily hand out high revenue shares and CPA, they get their blood from the stone be assured,

Affiliate programs quite happily pay over the odds on proven sites, unproven sites dont get "special deals"

I do some very good deals with affiliate programs on a variety of models but its not all a one way street, there are many occasions were i have to prove a campaign will be a success before i get the extras, if i dont i have to accept the standard rates.

i am with you on that, on one of my brands I pay an affiliate a very high CPA simple reason is that I have been working with him for over 1 year he shows me a great ROI he also plays a big part in the rentention of the players, if an affiliate that I have no clue about hits me up and ask me for huge CPA I want to see x amount of players ect, as Alex says its about doing you home work.
