    Default I am sad

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4jLfCjlYD0

The above video was my eldest daughters new favourite group, she had decided that Take That were no longer the in thing anymore.

    Then this happened:

I gave her a hug and she went to bed, the next thing i remember is the police knocking on the door the following morning and my wife answering it!

The police were there at the door and we were to go to the hospital straight away!

Why? Because our 12 year old daughter Melanie had been run over!

She passed away the following day!

That day, the group East 17 released the song as shown in the video above. How apt that was.

This has been many years ago now, however, tonight Eastenders, a once great british soap decided to show yet again someone getting run over and bouncing off a bonnet before hitting the windscreeen! (hood and windshield i believe it is to my american friends).

Anyway, tonight this really hit home yet again and i just want to post the video and the story, dont know why and i am sorry to burden people with this. After 15 years i am crying like a baby - must be the flu getting me low!

I'm really sorry to hear this Paul. I wish I could give you a hug!

Sometimes it's good to cry. Just means you haven't forgotten and it's not a bad thing.

Big virtual hug coming from Australia!

I had no idea Paul. That is a beautiful video. There is no words. Even after 15 years. I am soo so sorry and heartbroken. If you need to talk or yell or vent or just need some love please do so.

We ever long to hear her voice,
feel her touch, and see her face.

So we try to stop crying,
    and tell ourselves, that,
like the Lily, she rests her beauty
    in a gentler place.
    Much love Paul.

    Oh Paul,

I'm so sorry you had to go through that... like others, I had no idea.

I myself had a son who died, but he was just a baby, only 6 months old when he died from pneumonia. I know that was the worst experience I ever went through in my entire life; I literally felt as though my heart would break.

How much more difficult losing a child who you've cared for so much longer.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hey Paul, sorry for the delay in my reply, I read your post earlier tonight, but I was speechless, I could not find the words to say. I still can't really.

I am so sorry for your loss and can not imagine the pain that you feel in your heart. May the Lord give you strength and peace in your time of sorrow.

The year was 2000 I endured through the same sort of circumstances. I walked away from life for four years to realize my daughter would not like to see me give up. At the time of accident I was programming leaving me very bitter towards anything P.C., MAC or otherwise. I threw away most of projects, my personal life suffered separating from my wife of 15 years.

It really hits hard, stripping one of all humanity. Nothing seems to matter anymore. As time pressed forward the good things in life slowly became more real. Took four years to regain any ambition what so ever. Last year I finally won a very important court case in Seattle. The Judge sided partly in my favour my decisions to part with my projects was under duress. I had been taken advantage of and all trademark work and equipment shall be returned to me. The lesson, in the face of misery greedy people will still pawn you off.

Can I relate Paul? I like to think so but would be naïve of me. All I can offer is a simple statement “ Live unfolds as it should” fate has no conditions. And somewhere in this mirage of life we do eventually find the beauty of it all.

Behind these words others have posted are real people. Before I choke very sorry for your loss. Be at peace!

    Your Friend

    Guys,

Thank you so much for your words of support and your kind wishes, i wish i could explain in words how much they have meant to me.

I went through hell for many years after the accident and never stop thinking about how i could have made things different and of all the sad times. Now and again something happens and makes it feel like it happened yesterday, last night was one of those times!

Friends and colleagues were eventually the people who helped me through these dark times, as family never could! I love my family and they love me but we were none of us strong enough to really help each other, I had to stand firm and hold the family together when beneath i was falling apart.

What happened that day has scarred all of us for the rest of our lives and the perpetrator walks free, there was no justice! I sometimes wish that i had the knowledge that he would suffer mentally for the rest of his life, however, i dont even have that. He laughed at me at the inquest, so he feels no guilt.

He hit her on a pedestrian crossing when undertaking the stationary traffic, yet the police decided that it was "not in the public interests" to prosecute him. He was my bank manager and he must have known the right people!

People say i should have "seen to him" or offer to "get revenge" for me! This is not me, i would not be able to live with myself if i did this.

I hope that there is a god and that we go on to a better place because i cannot bear to think that Melanies entire life was just 12 short years. I long to be with her again and to hug her, mind you, if she is like my other two she will most likely be giving me a telling of for something or other when we do meet.

The only justice that we got was winning a private prosecution for compensation, we could not afford the £150,000 for a civil case. He was found to be a minimum of 80% at fault and we were awarded the miserly sum of £2,200. The money meant nothing but the proven guilty bit did! Had we have been able to afford the civil case he would most likely still be behind bars!

Now i must tidy my desk and get the polish out as the tears from last night have made the dust look a right mess!

Once again thank you all, it is so nice to know that we have such a great bunch in our community here at the GPWA.
    Paul

    Hi Chalkie,

As a mom, I can't imagine going through what you've had to endure. The thought of losing my own son takes my breath away.

I do believe in life after death, and that death is always much harder on the loved ones left behind. So even though it's so sad to have your beloved daughter taken away - you have one little angel waiting for you in heaven.

    - Andrea

    Hey Paul,
I am very sorry for your loss of your daughter. There is not a day goes by that I don't think of of my daughter Jessica and good times we had as a family. As Peter stated above about the 4 years of total disabling grief he went through as I have. The loss of a child is the one thing no one should have to endure. I have days that I can hardly function, but as time has passed I seem to be gaining back some positive thoughts. There are not many days that go by that I still sit down and cry. At times I am angry and at other times I am depressed. Again sorry for your loss Paul.

We have all three of us had our life destroyed in a very sad way, however, we have all been touched by very special people whom we will never ever forget!

I am blessed to have been able to share time with Melanie, as i am sure that you are to have been allowed time with your daughters. We are all 3, i am sure, greatfull to have been allowed this short period of time with our children.

God bless them, along with all that have been taken before thier time!

Paul, my apologies for not seeing this post earlier. There's probably nothing I can say that hasn't been said earlier, other than to remind you that you never need to apologise remembering your daughter and telling us about her.
