Default AskGamblers copied again & again

AskGamblers.com has been copied a few more times recently and who knows how many more too.

    Two sites with recent copies
    gamingtheodds.com
    luckbonus.com

gamingtheodds.com seemed to have ordered a complete clone of the site

    http://gaffg.com/blog/askgamblers-co...ckstartmonday/

What would you do if someone copied your custom site design?

Yes, speak to the host and send them a DMCA request email. Basically an email explaining the problem and stating it is a DMCA notice request. I have been getting this with one particular host company that owns a number of different hosting brands that all offer free hosting. They are very quick at removing the offending sites but it is a recurring annoyance.

I have sometimes tracked down the odd webmaster via whois and google search and actually phoned them. Some people are just ignorant and think it's ok to steal content. But host company is the best and least stressful route.

PS: The first one with hostgator or enom, says "Unified layer" when I search but hostgator crops up a lot for that, a whois has hostgator all over it and gives a gmail email address for the registrant. The second website appears to be hosted by Linode.

Over the years we have had our sites, and individual features as we add them, copied.

Some affiliates who blatantly copied our site back in the early days are now well-established in the market ( you know who you are). Our first step was always to write a curt but well mannered email raising the issue and asking them to stop. Some came back and apologised and changed their sites, others ( ) basically said '**** you'.

I think you have to look at this positively; if they're copying you, then you must be good at what you do, so take it as a compliment. And secondly we use it to keep motivating ourselves to constantly be improving.

Oh, and of course, complain to the hosting company to get them to take it down.

Is there a simple way to check if your site or content has been copied?

Take what you think is a unique sentence from your copy and just google it (in quotes to get an exact match).

Hosts in crappy countries don't really wanna cooperate with DMCAs. A couple of years ago I remember a member from here was copied, the thief even hotlinked all images. He asked me for assistance, cause they didn't speak much English, and they denied the request, saying I cannot "squeeze their hands".

Such responses require drastic measures like, setting htaccess redirect for all images to for example porn image, that breaks ToS of the host, which resulted in a ban. But yeah most US/European hosts would notify the user, ive done it 3-4 times already.

There's a Google DMCA page as well, where you can list both URLs and explain, within a week they reply, if the content is still there, they exclude it from the Serps.

To hit them even more, contact their brands, show them the copied stuff and their accounts might/will get banned. So you hit them on 3 levels, host, Google and money. I'd waste my time, only if it annoys me or outranks me.

My Casinosexplorer.com is also copied in full.

It is copied on www casinoanalytics info

I have only included domain homepage in DMCA complaint inside GWT

Hope that they will remove all indexed pages not only homepage.

I have had this happen many times as well. Start with the hosting company and hopefully they will help out with getting the site to comply. Also affiliate managers are awesome in helping with this. Let them know the site and they will stop giving credit to the copied site. Once the site knows that there is no point in keeping your content because they obviously wont be making any money it miraculously disappears! I also send emails, FB messages and the like to the owner of site (anyway you can contact them) with some strong language and I have been successful with getting the content removed by doing all the above. Good luck! It just sucks you have to spend time doing this.

I was a sort of "victim" against AskGamblers (one of the best portals on our industry, IMHO) and its multiple copies.

Two years ago, I was the victim of a serious car accident that left me temporarily without the use of an arm and various damage throughout the body.
I entrusted the redesign of the site (then very old) to a freelancer just because I could not even stand up straight on a chair.
He worked there for about five weeks, in the meantime, I devoted myself to rehabilitation.

One day he asked me access to the backend of the site and on server to complete the work and put it all online. I gave him everything.

After two days, the discovery ... Mioddio! My God!

For two days the site was an exact copy (for most parts) of AG!

Then, I learned that Lucky13 opened a topic on GPWA ...
I felt like **** ... I was ashamed as a thief. After six years in this industry, having started from scratch ...

I still do not know how to apologize to Lucky13 (sorry again, mate ... )

I worked two days and two nights with one arm to honor the promise to change the design ... it took me two weeks to fix most of the damage.

The bastard, disappeared from Skype once he learned of the disaster.
He copied everything from HTML to CSS.
It ran with my €1200 ... never heard about him.
On the other hand, I found many topics around the net who accused him of plagiarism (I still have all his details: first and second name, his FAKE company... he is from India...). At least, I was able to block his Paypal account ... small consolation ...

I would like to take this opportunity to say once again, after two and a half years... I'm sorry,Lucky13. If I remember these days, I still feel like a ****.

Moral of the story: if you need to redesign your website, do not ask for cheap freelancers rather do it yourself or take out the money

Lucky, if I can help to get this issue rid off, I'm here

That is the best way. The copycat sites add SERP ranks, I am pretty sure about it. So much of the links that point to their webiste actually help the old genuine well established site.

Only in case you are outranked and then you add juice to them, it would be a problem.

Yep, in addition to design theft, it appears this piece of content (chosen at random) is stolen word for word.
"when playing most casino games but you can still improve your chances of winning at pretty much any casino game and lose significantly less money in the long run by picking your spots and playing the right way."

There are at least 5 word-for-word copies of that content on the first page of results.

I went back to the original Private Member application, and I show that copyscape was clean on random checks on the gamingodds site August 8, 2014.

I am immediately suspending the Pvt Membership status of that account, but will set to public member so they can respond here.

I will add this to my discussion list with Anthony, as we will likely suspend the seal also.

I have not yet determined if the luckbonus site is the same owner or not, a search here at the foirum returns zero results.

Like it's not enough to try to rank in the SERPS and keep up with the latest developments in the industry and SEO while weeding out dodgy affiliate programs who don't pay, etc. We also need to be on guard against thieves and hackers. An affiliate's life

    Are you kidding me?

That piece of text -- along with all the other content on my site -- has been written by me or a hired writer. It's all original content and has absolutely not been copied from other sites. Are you saying that you're suspending my membership because someone has copied MY content? (Put that piece of text on Google and you can see that I rank #1 for it.)

As far as accusing me of "design theft"... could you be more specific? The sites have similarities, but it should be clear to everyone that they're NOT the same. There are clear differences in pretty much all of the design elements and - if you bother to look at this situation more closely before making accusations - the source code is entirely different (I know because I spent a lot of time coding it on top of Bootstrap framework).

Are you guys done here? Time to get back to making money?

gamingtheodds is almost an identical copy of askgamblers. Even the images are copied completely. Maybe the code might be technically different and redone but the design you cannot argue is a pure copy of askgamblers.

0% of my content has been copied from other sites (again, I know since I've spent 100s of hours creating the content). In fact, as the post above explains, five sites have copied my content. I should be the one starting these threads.

So even that is a "maybe" now? Why are you so biased?

And yes you can argue. In fact, you CAN'T argue that it is a "pure copy".
