Oh i do like you even if you are Gooner
I cannot wait for the new season to start and then you can see the prophecy come true.
I am sure there is a quatrain hidden somewhere that says something very similar to this
The ones with the bird will rise from their hibernation
The red and white cannon carrier will begin to burn
A new order begins a glorious dawn
A generation of domination to follow
The only sad thing about next year is that we will be on the same side for a short period of time, such a depressing thought but i am sure i can cope.

You see it's like this ...
I don't mind if Spurs do well - particularly if they do it playing good football.
It's been nearly 50 years since Tottenham last won the top League (before you were born?) - and these days it's so hard to beat the big money foreign owned / corporate owned clubs - so good luck to any side that manages it.
I can understand why you want Tottenham to improve - just as I'd like Arsenal to find the players to be able to compete with the top three in England - and the other big clubs in Europe.
But I cannot understand the obsessed desire for other local clubs to fail - which frankly is the hallmark of a small club - and suggests other problems within the fan base. And it's zero fun to read - it's not "banter" - it's miserable bollocks.
The way I see it is if Arsenal finish first - then I don't give a monkey as to who comes second!

Nice to see that not all Arsenal fans are delusional and can admit that there is no longer a big 4 but a big 3 and that they are not part of it!
I reckon Arsenal are more like a mediocre side along the lines of spurs and blackburn etc
... and before anyone brings the Baggies into this, we are a championship side and not part of the prawn butty division anymore.
Bet we win more games this seaason than either Arsenal or Spurs!![]()

Not the reply i was expecting, bit of a dampner
Well to you it may be miserable bollocks to me its the way it is, you see i was brought up in Tottenham, went to school in Tottenham, worked in Tottenham and for year upon year i have had to listen to Arsenal fans crowing at Tottenham fans.
Do i want Arsenal to fall away and fail, bet your arse i do, why because they deserve it, being on the "winning side" you dont have to listen to that crap that Tottenham fans have had to put up.
Your perspective and mine are totally different on this mate
And to top all that off no Arsenal fan will ever get to understand the ill feeling over the Sol Campbell issue, you wont find many Spurs fans that have forgotton or forgiven what our "local" rivals done there.
Now i read a post recently in the daily mail about hatred within football and for Arsenal fans they now hate Chelsea fans as much as they do Tottenham fans, if i recall correctly it was 36% on each and yet for Tottenham fans it is 52% hatred towards Arsenal.
You see Paul Arsenal fans have moved on from their rivallry with Spurs because of the gap between the teams and its been replaced with Chelsea, now i understand that.
But Tottenham fans have not moved on and we wont until such a time that we do get one over the enemy.
Do i hate Arsenal fans, of course not, members of my own family support Arsenal, some of my mates support Arsenal and what you call miserable bollocks we do call banter.
Does it mean that Man Utd fans have a problem with their base because they hate Liverpool, does it mean they are a small club, does the same apply to Rangers fans over Celtic and visa versa, absolutely not.
Sory mate if it is no fun to read but i think i am on solid ground when i say others on here take it for what it is, just banter and that they do enjoy reading the banter, i refer to the likes of Chalkie, Renee and Shaun btw.
I hope i ahve not upset you mate and i will refrain from the sort of banter/miserable bollocks comments you ahve refered to when i discuss football with you, i respect your opinion on this so no issue.
I just hope that you respect my choice to see Arsenal fail, its borne out of years of being on the other end of taunting from our local rivals, something you have simply not have to endure.

Oh no, we cannot have a falling out before the season has started.
Arsenal and Manchester Utd get more people wishing them to fail than any club, its the way it is. With success comes ...
I personally do not hate Arsenal and have no issues win or lose, however, i cheer any team on against UTD, British or not!
Glad there is not a Wolves fan on here or there would be world war 3 breaking out, i hate wolves more than i hate anything else in the world.

You've not upset me at all mate but ...
Do you type them letters and post them? Do you leave written notes for them around the house? Of course not.
There are times and places to engage in banter - and it's usually verbally when people can see all the nuances in facial expressions and body languages so that it stays pitched at the right level.
There is a world of difference between written forum posts and verbal banter.
I spent 5 years in London after leaving Belgrade - and 18 months at the club - during the mid-80's when the tide first started to turn in favour of the Arsenal - and I am aware of how nasty it can get when you see the thugs on both sides of the fence.
Even here in New Zealand the pub side that I coach / play for contains 3 Spurs fans - and there is good natured ribbing when a shot is missed - I call them better than Bent - and they compare me to the carthorse Adebayor.
So I understand banter - and given the chance to meet up with you ladies and gentlemen at an affiliate event I'd fully expect to take part over some beers and good food.
But - written on a business forum it needs to take a much lighter tone and probably needs to be much more positive - otherwise it's a turnoff to most participants and also to prospective business partners.
I'm always interested to hear your rationale and reasons for why Tottenham or West Brom might (or might not) do well this season - but reading the automatic Arsenal = carp kneejerk reaction (especially as it's obviosuly not true - yet!) is simply wearing thin.
IF you really have to type the rote automatic reply then find a football fanboy site where that low level of automatic "banter" is encouraged ... I want to read your higher thoughts regarding affiliating and football !

Ok good, lets not fall into the sterotypical situation of an Arsenal fan and Spurs falling out over this.
I dont however agree with you on this, the football banter on here is light hearted and is done appropriately and while this is a serious forum, something i have am on record of repeating time and again there is no harm done when 4 or 5 people on here have little digs at each other.
I understand that for you it is now repetitive and boring and i respect that and will refrain from aiming them digs at you mate, but with regards to other Arsenal fans Shaun and Renee and our WBA fan Chalkie i will continue as i am sure they will at me.
It is a bit of a release from the seriousness of this forum and i think they would agree with me on this.
You are right when you say a football forum is the place for the same one liners but in my opinion only when its done regulary and with some venom attached, that does not happen on here mate at all.
If you open up a thread about a serious chat on football then be assured i will get involved and give a serious opinion and i am sure the others will but in fairness no thread like that has ever been opened up.
Look what i am trying to say is i take on board what you have said mate and in response i will respect your opinion and your feelings on this and react accordingly.
But with regards to the others i will continue to interact with them in the same they do with me in a light hearted manner and like i say i am sure they agree with me on this and enjoy this toing and froing and little digs at each other.
No harm done mate and i look forward to debating serious football and affiliate issues with you.
As for Shaun, Renee and Chalkie they will still get it![]()

I have a confession to make..
I actually dont even know who the spurs are.
Because the games are on here at like 4am (and I live 1.5hr from the office and have to get up at 5.30 to get to work on time) i dont actually get to watch many games..
I do know that I like to poker fun at Man U though, especially since my other half is a die hard Man U supporter. I dont wish death upon the team or anything (well maybe just a little :P)
Seriously though, I like mucking around and will support Arsenal whether they are coming first or last and make an effort not to get to know any of the other teams so that I don't feel so bad when Arsenal don't come first.
I think the little digs at each other are ok though. No problems here. I do still think Shaun needs to find a new team to support though so you guys can stop giving me **** about Arsenal and pick on another team :P![]()

Guilty as charged!
I must be the biggest culprit for the oneliners and unfounded digs at Arsenal, but i am a fan of a little club so i suppose that gives me a reason to be so, if not excuses me!
Sorry if i have been offensive or upset you because of this.
I think we need to lighten up a bit though, after all, the threads of this nature always seem to be in the chatterbox or fun diversion threads, which are our escape from the grind of work in a way.
I will continue in the way i do in these type of footy threads because i do not want to have to tread carefully for fear of upsetting you, its like anything, if you dont like the subject matter of the thread or the way it develops the best thing is to avoid the thread. Please dont take that the wrong way Paul, its not meant to be offensive, its meant to be friendly constructive.I mean no malice and a bit of sarcasm is the only way i can come out on top in a footy thread being a Baggie.
I look forward to having a footy thread that is a genuine discussion and not banter even though i cannot really know much about footy being a Baggies fan.
I also hope to interact in threads of a business nature with you as i have the greatest of respect for you.
