Does anybody use screen shots to encourage surfers onto casino sites? I'm thinking of using them for poker, roulette and blackjack.

I use screen shots on all my reviews. I feel it is a service to the visitor to see the lobby, some games (or tables in the case of poker). Whether or not it helps to convert I really can't say but I have always done it.

I have a site or two that I use screenshots of the casino home page.
I had considered to start using the casino lobbys instead but have not gotten past just considering it.
I have never tested this enough to see if having therm or not having them would change conversion....

If an affiliate program is not small affiliate friendly (especially small US Affiliate), then they are NOT Affiliate Friendly!
I use them too. Whether they produce more players or not, I'm not sure. However, if a screenshot helps describe what your article/review, etc, is about then it must help at least a little.
We use screenshots too , i guess if we all set up Seperate trackers in couple months we can give an answer to this as I am not sure how they add to conversions either
A bit of a sidetrack here, but I have a newbie type question. When I first envisaged making a portal site I thought it would be good to have reviews of the rooms I am promoting, with screenshots of the games and descriptions of how they played and so on.
However, once the time came to start picking sponsors to start off with it became apparent that most of them forbid affiliates from having a players account. Thus, I can't play on the (in my case at the moment, bingo) rooms I want to promote.
So how do you get round this to take screenshots? Or to do a 'proper' players eye view review?
From my understanding they only forbid you from having a players account registered through your own affiliate link.
I dont think they will forbid you if you signed up via someone elses affiliate link or directly.
If they did it would be a strangeof them to ask someone to promote a product that they cannot test out.

I agree, there is normally never a problem having a players account, just do not sign up under your own affiliate link at ANY property you promote, and if it ever happens by accident due to a cookie not being over-writen after a test or sume such thing happening, always be sure to discuss it with your affiliate manager before playing or at least continuing to play once discovered.
I would be happy to provide a players link to you for playing if you desire, or often you can just go direct or play from the link provided at your favorite portal not owned by yourself.

We are always testing affiliate's links, if you want a link tested let me know. If you are wanting to test we can provide a link we can use to audit stats and make sure affiliates are getting credit for their traffic.
I am here to help if you have any issues with an affiliate program.

Thank you Betpartners, Rick, Anthony,
I don't need a link testing I just wanted to sign up, check out the lobby, deposit a minimum (or play free games or w/e) and check out the software etc. I am probably just being overly cautious (paranoid?) about the affiliate T&C!
Your tip of signing up through someone elses portal Rick is a good one, that should safely overwrite any cookie and make sure I don't accidentally sign up under myself! I will click on a few siggies here
Cheers,
Although most don't like it, a simple email to the Aff Mgr saying what you're doing is normally enough to let them allow you a player account through your own link.
Just let them know that you're going to download, deposit $XX dollars so you can do a proper review. Most are fine with it - and why not.
I agree, let your aff manager know that it is you who signed up the account and that it is for test purposes and there really shouldn't be a problem.
As to the thread topic at hand:
Screenshots are a must in any casino, sportsbook or poker room review if you ask my opinion. Can't estimate conversion numbers but it will definitely help your bounce rate, I am certain about that!
I as most members have already said use screen shots were possible to show a snap shot of the program.
I also use video if you have the resourses to produce one to show them around also.................for me this is more effective.
More to the point is a detailed review with the facts and not a long drawn out story etc
Hope this helps you................

Doolally: Too late I already signed up under one of your links (don't get excited and order an Aston now)
I emailed the aff support and they said that I could play, but not under my own link (paraphrasing)
Thanks for the replies in this thread guys, end of sidetrack!
I will probably use screenshots on a review page as I think it has to help - apart from anything it will give the surfer something to look at rather than just text (and banners). Also they will have some idea of what the games will actually look like after they have signed up and that has got to help (I guess unless the room has bad looking software).
I use mostly in my home page.
As soon as I switched from banners/logos to lobby screenshots my CTR (click-through-rate) has increased significantly.

Punters are bombarded with banners and obvious advertising every sec their using the net. People get immune to it.
Use something different and it grabs attention.
Add concise, non hyped up mini reviews to these lobby screen cap (if you can), include their sign-up bonus(s). Providing a link to a full review if the punters wants more info.
This is what works these days. Punter can see what they want and click through if they like the sound of it.
Cheers
Dave
I also think that it is a good idea to use screenshots in reviews
