Default Opt-in 8 Million Gamblers Emailing

Okay, so I have been an affiliate for quite some time with various different websites, and I recently just came across a website that offers 8 Million Gambling Targeted Opt-in Email list for sending emails to. They will provide me with emailing services and everything and this list has yet to be used by anyone they said. So, I would be the first person to be sending the Opt-in emails from their database. The price is $500 which includes the list of 8 million emails and interspire, which would be used to send out all of the emails. I'm guessing I could send out as many emails as I want, also.

Is this a fair price? How does email marketing convert for gambling? Is it even worth me investing the money? Would this be legal to send out emails, which I'm sure some if not majority of the emails are from the United States, and I live in the United States as well? I just wanted to see if anyone here has done this before, or if anyone knows the legalities for sending gambling related emails from the United States to people in the United States.

As far as i can tell - you would be buying a mailing list. Those people who are on the mailing list did not give permission for their info to be sold i am guessing.

    It is highly unethical IMO

But the question is, is it legal? The company gives me a database and cpanel where the emails are sent from.

Do you really think that list is going to have any quality if they are only charging $500 for it? Anyone selling it most likely knows that your avg CPA is at a minimum $100 so they are saying they don't think they can convert 5 of 8 million? Sounds like a scam to me. Anything that sounds to good to be true almost always is.

As for the legal issues... I was pretty sure it was illegal to spam people.

It's 300$ for the list, and then an additional 200$ for interspire to send out all the emails. Here's the thing though, I would think it's too good to be true, but that is all this website does. They sell bulk email lists for various different categories.

given one of my email addresses is no doubt on that list i'd like to ask that you don't buy it and spam me

As for it being an 'Opt-in' list...can you imagine 8 million people choosing to give their email details under the clear terms that those details will be sold over and over again to email marketers, and they will be spammed constantly?

My personal view is this has to be a complete scam of some sort.

If I were investigating it I would start by asking some probing questions along the lines of 1) is the list a current list with new folks being added today, 2) what are some of the sites where folks signed up to receive the e-mail messages, 3) what type of opt-in (e.g., is it a double opt-in list where they person who signed up replied to an e-mail confirmation), 4) on what basis did the sender indicate they were interested in gaming related e-mail, 5) when the e-mail is sent out what type of material is added to the e-mail (it better have an opt-out footer and it better identify the company providing the list as the sender providing your mailer as an offer) etc., etc., etc.

No legitimate provider would provide access to a targeted list with even a small fraction of the claimed number of e-mail addresses except for a much larger fee.

If you send the spam and some of us are on the list (I am sure we are) and you are promoting casinos through trusted affiliate programs we are going to go to those programs and ask thenm to close your affiliate accounts since you are sending spam.

Then how valid do you think this can be "this list has yet to be used by anyone they said". If its all they do, you are maybe getting a list that has been used so many times over so many years that they no longer see any value in it and are just waiting for some suckers to come along (no offense).

Already talked with my network. They said it was fine if I promote my website, which had information with their website on it. I wouldn't be directly promoting the poker website from the emails.

It was just posted in October, so it hasn't been on the website very long. Not sure if that is a good or a bad thing....

Legal or not - I just wouldn't do it - this industry is very small and you just don't need to have your reputation tarnished in any way...
By the sounds of it - as most others have also posted here it sounds a bit scammy to me....

The only thing less ethical than buying a list is selling one.
The company selling this list has very obviously sold it many times over.

It's probably 99% dead email addresses.

The majority of the other 1% will report you for spamming which could result in your hosting account being shut down.

If the emails you send out include any affiliate coded links, you will run the risk of having your account closed resulting in lost revenue.

If the list contains the email addresses of anyone in the affiliate community, you run the risk of alienating yourself from your peers and incurring the wrath of those who are most vocal on the boards.

Is it worth risking your business and your reputation?

The same lists get passed around for free all the time and anyone with any sense just disregards them. When I get offered them I always tell the spammers good luck getting someone willing to pay you for that, seems from this thread that there are still people out there prepared to pay for such things

Dude.. this guy is asking about buying a spam list for 500$.

My guess is he doesn't have a business, and he doesn't have a reputation.

I say go ahead and waste your 500$. I can't wait to forward the email to the FTC. A spammer from Montreal got condemned for 1 billion $ for spamming Facebook a few months ago.

The way I see it, and agreeing with what has already been posted, is... If the person or persons did not personally opt in to receiving email from you, then it is 100% spam.

So, if Joe Slot Player signs up to my newsletter, and I sell, lend or give you his email and you send him mail, it is spam. The way I see it is, if the person did not sign up to receive mail from you, then you have no legal right to mail him/her.

There is already too much spam floating around, please do not add to the problem.

I've looked at that when starting out as well, so please I'm not judging.

I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft cattle prod! I would personally avoid this. it's better to collect your own emails.

Listen to the advice on here, also google this

8 Million Gambling Targeted Opt-in Email list

I hardly think the list is "fresh"

But regardless, i would guess this is not legal at all.
