Default How often do you check your stats?

We're all in this business to make some money. In a metrics based industry, that's the ultimate measurement. We have access to stats from affiliate programs 24/7, which means you can check your stats as often as you want to.

How often do you check your stats? Do you go for the big surprise at the end of the month? Do you look at them every day? Or do you do something in between? After voting in the poll, please explain the reasoning behind how often you check your stats.

It varies according to the amount of change that we are doing with the client ...

With successful brands its probably only once a week to keep an eye on the flow of traffic, and look for any revenue surprises.

With brands that are less successful, then we are applying changes to marketing, and so there may be daily monitoring of clickthroughs and registrations etc. in order to verify results.

For my main programs once a day, others once a week or less.

from time to time I forget to check stats on programs programs I used to promote, logged in to one a few weeks ago (which I hadn't checked for 6 months) to find out 1 old player droppped 5k which was nice

We check outgoing clicks on a weekly basis for new player statistics + the top 20 programs with most regular players every month.

For my main sites that make me the most money, every day, I'm a bit of an addict. For the 'lesser' brands (for me) then it's every few days, though if I'm having a quiet time I tend to check them all every day.

Total waste of time to check this often, total waste of my valuable and limited hours, but there you go, it's like certain drugs, very addictive and not entirely beneficial.

My name is Dan and I'm addicted to checking affiliate stats.

    (everybody) "Hi Dan"

Logging in to check whether the stats moved up a grand is like playing slots for free.

Would like to check them daily, but thankful that there was not a breakdown any more specific than "More than once a day".

I usually check my stats once a day, UNLESS I'm aware of a high roller who is playing like there's no tomorrow. That's when I check my stats every couple of hours

It's like a compulsion...the update times are etched on my brain and there's nothing I can do to stop myself checking the numbers as soon as they are (well should be) updated. Once a day for those that update daily and about 5 times a day for bet365 seeing as their updates have been coming later & later in the day and I can't sit on my hands until 1.30 in the afternoon

"Several times a week, but not daily" I Voted!
However, it is hard to say and depends on the particular program.
There are programs important to me, like lottery tickets affiliate program that I check few times a day.
... and there are programs that I check once a month only!

Usually once a day, but sometimes I do it more than once a day hoping to find good changes there .

Two or sometimes three times a week is enough I think, the important accounts of course

Hands up if this thread reminded you to go check your stats (again)!

They should make a show on TLC about us, "Compulsive affiliates". And then you go on with your sad life story.

Yep definitely, I could talk about my other secondary addictions such as:
    - Checking my bank account a couple of times a day when payments are due
    - Checking my Google Analytics stats
    - Checking the GPWA Forum
    - Checking my Google rankings

Arrggggghhhhh, too much checking. Sometimes I get stuck in a checking loop and I have to walk away from the computer and then come back and do some actual work.

The 'real-time' stats on Google Analytics are curiously addictive, especially if you've just sent out a tweet/facebook message etc.

Perhaps I need to get out more...!

How does the walking away actually work for you? I find when I get caught in a similar loop and I walk away with the intent of coming back to do some actual work - I sit back down at my desk and "warm up" by re-entering the loop, which then results in zero productivity on the day.

I would not look at the stats every day ... but it's impossible ... especially now that I use also StatsRemote ... *facepalm*

There is around some sort of clinic for this type of compulsion ? *re-facepalm*
