Default If you suck dont bug me

As I work day in and day out on my little Gambling ***** project I continue to get emails from a number of online casino affiliate programs asking if I would like to work with them. The emails are pretty standard. You know, super rev share for 3 months and all that jazz. Now getting offers to work closely is great but here is the kicker. You cant suck and bug other affiliates. If I search for your program in google and you have more complaints than bonus pages than you suck and you need to stop bugging me.

If you have a hundred threads at gpwa about how crappy your stats track than you suck. If its a known fact that you go through a different affiliate manager every few months cause the program doesn't know how to treat an Am, then you suck. If you don't pay on time like the good affiliate programs do then you suck.

So in other words if you suck don't bug me, I'm trying to work on promoting the good guys in the business.

Spot on. But do you think any of the "suck" programs will read an heed? You left out the classic line "We have the highest converting program on the [insert network]". I have found I have a rather fast click to the delete button anymore.

    Hey Puma,

so no normal affiliate programs ever approached you? not even one that was decent enough to give a shot?

    just curious...

    Cheers.

Indeed and they are as follows...

Betfair - Contacted me - We chatted - they are great - On my Site
Red Returns - Contacted me - We chatted - they are great - On my Site

I would have to look to get more but I think its clear that my site does not promote shady casinos or their affiliate programs so I just wanted to make it clear that if a casino or its program is shady then they need not bother me as Im working on getting the site off the ground with great casinos and programs I have already. I'm always open to new programs of course and will give anybody a shot ( except top gaming crooks ) but having pages upon pages in google about sucking will get you an instant delete from my inbox. I want my site to be huge in the future but Im not willing to sacrafice my morals to do it like some sites.

But like chip said they probably wont read such threads and will continue to bother me and other hard working affiliates while we work.

    Cheers

    I understand.

It's just that as someone that works just as hard on the other side I feel the same sometimes times about some affiliates, you do everything you can to help them and give them top notch service and rates and they just spam you with horrible/Fraudulent traffic.... at least we have a forum where we can cry about our hard lives

how about this... You'll google me (incomate), i'll google you and then we talk?

    Cheers!

It doesn't surprise me I get them and I'm an SEO provider by trade not an affiliate..... what does that say about how much they care....

I used to work at a company that had a splog network, literally hundreds of the buggers all with gibberish content, and the amount of Affiliates who would send us requests there was insane, clearly they just have some email spider crawl and send I almost can't believe it could be somebody making concoius decissions.

So in short they're going to continue to bother the world and there's nothing we can do about it.... *sighs*

hahaha that is a case of multiple AM's not communicating very well within their sales team.... i can see how that might get annoying but i would try to take it with a grain of humor... if you want to be mean you can even start negotiating with them and then drop them the news :P

LOL, I suppose in fairness to them - I do have quite a few sites so they don't always know which ones belong to me. I suppose I could negotiate and see how far I could push them....Nah, I can't be horrible. I normally just send a polite response and tell them I am already an affiliate.
Its amazing how they do offer me more than my current AM is offering me though

Just reading this thread...it's a toughie - as I totally understand where you guys are coming from, it's incredibly irritating getting spammed from AM's when you are trying to get your site to be more efficient in your business ...

On the plus side... I would see it as a compliment that your site is working well and that people are desperate to work with you ?

Maybe if you just sent a very quick reply back saying - "No thanks, we do not want to work with you please do not contact us again" - it would alleviate the harrassment problem and the AM - (if they had sense) would cross you off their list and move on or at least ask why so that they can improve their program and services?

It's an AM's job to source and find new partners to work with - but we shouldn't be harrassing anyone that doesn't feel they want or need to work with us. That's just bad business practice and poor ettiquette...

Management keeps telling us, just send a simple note back saying no thanks.

Sorry, but there are a few problems with this method.

First, where did you get the email address? That is one of the first things I ask now.

I do NOT publish my email addresses ANYWHERE, and I do NOT use them to sign up for stuff....so...

Did another manager give you my details without permission? Did you rent, purchase or otherwise trade for it?

If you can't answer that question, can I join your program and approach players in the same manner, with a borrowed, rented, purchased or otherwise traded for list of email addresses?

Most affiliate managers will NOT answer those questions when I ask them, and when I recieve honest answers to those questions I will often at least consider talking to them.

This would be true except my site could be called **** with sugar gambling and id still get the emails.

I like the way red flush and Betfair handled it, they sent me a nice note via gpwa inbox that wasnt pushy and told me what they like about my site and followed up with an email a couple weeks later. That's how its suppose to be done.

Our industry being so competitive, it is imperative for average to large sized companies to aggressively pursue new sources of traffic. In most companies your account managers would be in the affiliate management/retention side of the business. And the prospecting emails you are getting are from the acquisition team. Therefore the better offers as acquisition would have more leverage on the commissions due to the nature of the work.

But a fact to consider is that most affiliates have multiple sites and also would have registered at the same aff program with multiple ids. But to make life easier they would redirect all emails to a program like outlook. That could be a reason to get the same emails a few times.

This is a fairly good process as many new affiliates have been introduced to our industry in this way. But when the prospecting reaches a level of harassment, it has to be curbed somewhere. I think a polite email saying no should do the trick. Most affiliates would say they can’t take any new programs at the moment and may consider in 6 months time.

Now imagine the same emails coming to you when you're not even an affiliate...

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty keen for the other affiliate managers to tell me their secrets, but if you're emailing other affiliate managers, you're not really doing your job properly.

Affiliate managers NEVER talk about the trading of our emails and think that it's ok...

Renee's post is a perfect example.....and honestly her email shouldn't be on lists being traded, but it certainly is.....

The funny thing is that they reference RewardsAffiliates.com in the email usually telling me they have seen my site and think there is a huge opportunity to work together..

I usually ask them to look at it again and come back to me. Some of them figure it out by then, others still have no idea.. so then I go into talks about 40k prepaid etc, which they always agree to, then I disappear as soon as they ask me for my bank details...

If they haven't figured it out yet, even by just reading the title of our site "Casino Affiliate Program", then I truly wonder about what kind of service the affiliates are getting from these companies.

Apart from this, there was one guy that i just ignored, and he sent me 3 emails finally being quite rude to me telling me if I'm not interested just to simply reply and say so, so when I replied telling him if he had bothered doing any research he would have seen I wasn't actually an affiliate, and that I'm an affiliate manager..

Then the insults started (which I posted here a few months back for those who remember - he called me a bisexual donkey ****** or something like that).

Well said, and stated. Many networks that we have dealt with have either fallen out of the communication loop, not paid on time, not paid at all, or just downright cut and ran.

FUN FUN FUN.... but.. what else do we do this for? Its all for the excitement...right? The chance we take driving traffic, spending slightly above budget, trusting that we will actually get paid..

I agree... I ENJOY promoting the good guys, and spend most of my time away from the forum doing so. Its always good to come back and see posts that I can actually relate to.

Keep up the good work man.
