    Default Link Building Strategy 2020?

    Hi Everyone,

First post on GPWA and just wondering if anyone could share any approaches to link building in the casino niche in 2020?

My approach would be looking into reverse engineering competitors links by researching on ahrefs and look into getting a prospective link that way. Also check out other casino related niches and research where ther links are coming from and take it from ther.

What specific metrics do you look for when checking if a link is good or not? Would it be domain authority and page authority? or any other metrics?

How much would you think a fair price would be for a "good link"(I know they aren't cheap!)

Has anyone on here worked with any sort of digital marketing company or anything of that sort?

Would love to hear peoples opinions on the state of link building atm

The casino niche is quite common, this year only the link mass will work, if there is more then the output in the top

    I disagree

Back in 2000 having link mass no matter where the links were from worked, now not so much.

    To answer your question:

Yes, it is good practice to find some of your competitors links to possibly get a backlink from.

When analyzing the domain for outreach I like to make sure that it's receiving 1000+ visitors, decent DR30+, and good backlinks.

However, this process may be tedious. If your budget allows it, i'd recommend hiring a reputable agency to do this for you.

These guest post opportunities with agencies will usually cost anywhere between $250-800 (depends on metrics and traffic)

However, most players in todays game are using a mix of guest posts, and LARGE PBN's when it comes to link building.

Choose carefully as this usually translates into seo agencies spamming thousands of affiliates looking for links, as well as brokering deals on sites they have zero direct involvement in with zero control if or when the links will be placed or whether they will stay the agreed upon time frame.

However, here at the GPWA we have an entire section dedicated to buying or selling links, guest posts and other forms of advertising. This allows you, in many cases, to have direct contact with site owners and developers.

I've always wondered and maybe from your experience..When would you see any uptick in rankings and when are the links usually indexed?

Alluding to what WonderPunter said, IGaming is so damn competitive that a few links won't do it for you...and when your linkbuilding efforts do start paying off it will be quite some time.

But that's just the game we play.

Let me put things into perspective for you:

I had ranked a games affiliate site for some 100k+ searches a month.

This took upwards of a 400+ PBN. 100's of guest posts. countless PressReleases (dealing with Canadian casino) - and close to 2 years to get there.

Typing this out sounds like nothing but the effort it took to get all those links, and build the network was painstaking.

IGaming backlinks is a hard game. But I believe it is still the way to get to the top on the SERP's.

Correct (on high quality sites). Your blanket statement suggests links (whether bought or organically placed) "rarely see much boost no matter the power,m and when it does its almost a year later". This is simply not true. Backlinks are an integral component of SEO. "on top of that tons getting devalued every month," only applies to spammy websites and PBNs.

    Great insight! How much $$$?

Did your increase in backlinks steadily lead to increases in traffic?

I'm not sure what you wanted to say with this. All the top results in SERPs have quality backlink profiles with tons of good links and also tons of poor ones. Links are what gets you to page 1.

Im saying in 2020 based on experience of various sites some with huge da natural links they are not as effective as they used to be, now there is a full combination of things you need to do. If you guys have hundreds or thousands of first pages ranking based on the methods you use keep going, but link building in 2020 has changed in my opinion

Yes, I agree with you, my friend. The change has come in the direction of mini blogs. Where there are fewer participants in the dialogs, but the topics are focused on the topic of interest. Those sites that have satellites in the form of a blog, a video channel and various active social profiles have more weight when ranking.

Links are usually indexed very quickly, the problem is the impact they have on your rankings, that would take much longer if they actually are able to generate any positive impact.

Also, keep in mind that your competitors success in ranking may not be due to the links you have researched. They may be successfull in spite of the links and not becuase of them.

I think that as time progresses, Googles perception of your user engagement performance (click through, time on site, etc.) will be progressively more important.
