I don't mean no edit function at all, but perhaps what GamTrak suggested.. the 15 minute rule or something.. at least it will prevent going back and changing something in the original message that makes the rest have no sense... and especially not able to edit days later..

Michael perhaps you can make it so that posts cannot be edited like this? To me, this thread has now been a huge waste of my time and I don't see any purpose posting somewhere where the crucial information is going to be removed later anyway.
I can understand your frustration Renee but i would not say it was a huge waste of your time from the perspective that many have read this thread myself included and you came out of it with your reputation enhanced.

He has edited it because you basically busted him and he made himslef look foolish by refusing to undertsand the basic concept that you cannot post affiliate links to search engines etc.

You handled this very well and the fact that he has edited it so much only shows this imo.

Though for new readers they may be confused i can see that but if they read the whole thread they will get the picture that someone compalined about you, their complaint was unjustified and they edited their posts to cover their tracks.

I would say job well done Renee.

Another suggestion maybe move the thread to the private section. Solayka edited all his posts leaving a void in the entire discussion. Also it may worthwhile considering the threads sensitive nature. Should this really be public?

I actually don't think this thread should be moved to a private section.. I think all the other affiliate managers should be able to see it to make sure Solayka isn't doing the same to them (and for this reason I will notify them all). But removing all the posts and leaving a void in the entire discussion is my issue here..

I suppose if anyone wants any info on this who didn't get to see the parts of the discussion that have now been removed, just PM me.

As far as the rest of it goes, IMO the case is closed.

Suppose I am overly cautious over others implementing the same method deployed by Solayka.

I remember one MGS a few years back was banned from most search engines. Ah.. maybe I am overly cautious. I spend more time locking stuff up than I do actually working.

A job well done Renee and yes I am jealous.

    Exactly the point.

I can't think of any good reason to allow a poster to be able to edit days after the fact other than to disrupt the context of the thread (which he has now done).

I enforce this rule due to the fact that we have contests and events that would ruin things if editing after the fact was allowed.

I'm going to do a poll one day in order to get others feedback on this in case I'm missing a good reason to allow editing days after a post.

It shows what a great affiliate manager you are and if its possible only enhances your reputation amongst affiliates.

I'd also like to thank you for keeping this post not private as it gives other such as myself to look out for this affiliate and stop our brand from being scammed in the same way

also noticed if it helps anyone reading he kept his original post here

Like I said things like this very rarely happen, so I think it places a small undue burden on folks who realize a bit later that maybe they were too harsh in a post or something and want to tone it down...or times went you forget to put in the word not (which completly change a positive/negative statement) or something like that.

I apologize to you and others, once I had seen that he was editing his posts so much, I actually meant to drop cityguard or Michael a note and request that his edit powers be taken away temporarily as I could see the continuity of this thread was starting to suffer...(damn I've been apologizing to you a good bit lately huh... lol )

In reality, an admin could actually go in and see the edits and manually replace them....but I have no idea if that is needed or not....you had actually grabbed the one post and quoted it so that help preserve the thread a bit.

If anyone else tries the same thing, they will also be locked out and we catch them pretty fast. When you get 2000 emails over a span of 12 hours alerting to this, you don't miss them

Either way, I'm going to fix this now so that it won't happen like this again..
