Clueless? Alex is right, you could have worded that so much better Dave but as has been usual with you recently it is attack minded.

It is a shame that when someone disgrees with you Dave that you decide to be rude.

I now know that i will refrain from debating with you in future and debate with the likes of spearmaster who clearly disgarees with my opinion but at no point resorted to rudeness.

I respect those that disgree with me in a civil manner and on occasions their strength of arguement has made me see things differently but calling me clueless just because i dont agree with ones point is in fact more of a reflection on the person that throws out such remarks.

But regardless Dave i wish you well and it is unfortunate that we can no longer debate each other,

I'd just like to confirm that my original post on this subject was correct in my view. Here is the latest quote from Bryan.

I'll say it once, and I'll say it again, affiliates are their worst enemy - in fact many shouldn't even be allowed to run a business - if in fact they are capable in running one at all. I'm not saying you Dom, but that comment is directed to many.

Most affiliates boast of running companies, right? Why didn't any of these companies hire capable lawyers and tackle GP in civil court? Because of the expense? Well that's an easy solution - these "hundreds" or "thousands" could have chipped in $100 a piece and hired a legal dream team via CAP or the GPWA's resources and file a class action lawsuit in GP's home town. I'm sure there are some South African webmasters who could have easily arranged that.

If this issue was so important, why didn't this happen? I'll tell you why, people like to bitch and moan, and that's about it. It's easy and it's fun! Woohoo! What did CAP do? What did the GPWA do? What did anybody do except for JTodd posting videos at YouTube?

And this serves as a template for the next program that decides to close it's doors. They know that they don't need to take affiliates seriously because all they'll do is bitch and moan in the message boards and upload videos at Youtube. When GP shut down its affiliate program, the affiliate community lost a huge opportunity to be taken on as a serious professional entity.

After reading that post & other threads by folks like Bryan and Jetset I have no more faith in this industry as it relates to 'ethics' and doing the right thing! Infact I'm SPEACHLESS! Looks to me like MGS and eCOGRA got their wish and everyone will soon stfu because it's clear that the cover up is on for the Grand Prive fiasco!

Robin i was reading the exact same thread and was stunned. It seems to be that some are starting to say that this whole mess with GP is the "affilaites" fault for not keeping better records.

How this is our fault is just unbelievable. I wanted to post over there but had to hold my "white trash tongue" as dave would say.

I would not worry to much about what Bryan says Robin, his above comments actually betray his own knowledge and understanding on the subject which coming from an affiliate himself is some what surprising.

The problem with GP has never been that they broke the law, their Terms allowed them to close the program down, it is the fact that even though it was in its terms it was an unethical act, thus the backlash.

Very difficult to bring a class action suit when no laws have been broken.

Add to the fact does he even know if it possible to bring class action suits in South Africa? does he know South African law, i doubt it, thus he is just shooting from the hip in another attack at affiliates at large.

The campaign has had an impact on Grand Prive, they admitted this to Top Boss when she met with them, the bad publicty has had an effect on their brand, to say differntly just so that oen can attack affiliates at large demeans his whole arguement.

Byran is better suited doing what he does best and should leave well alone subjects that he has clearly unqualified to comment on.

I will be in Amsterdam and will be meeting with some people, people that are close to Bryan, i would like the opportunity to sit down with him and ask him as an affiliate why he has such a low opinion of them generally.

Doubt that will happen though.

Looks like us victims are no longer victims and it's all our fault! What is wrong with these folks? I won't say more right now because it's useless.

You know, just reflecting on this and Spear's commendable fact-gathering initiative:

Surely affiliates running businesses keep detailed records or maybe copies of their statements from the programs? Do these contain useful facts or stats, and can they be combined to present a more comprehensive picture than that available to the individual affiliate?

Or do affiliates rely solely on the programs to retain pertinent financial and other information and justify what they (the affiliates) are being recompensed for?

It would be much more credible to see this sort of collaborative approach between affiliates rather than the obviously unproductive circus we have been observing thus far.

Just a thought.....

He is above us affiliates you know.

What is really sad is that the 'members' (affiliates) over there will NOT challange those statements and why I asked them to 'Color me Red' (ban me) because it's sickening to watch let alone participate!

Edit: I should have said MOST members will never say anything to them as I knew that Peter would speak his mind! WTG Greek!

I know its a disappointment but remain focused. Grand Prive is the target and whoever else is involved. Collectively people have power that will never change.

Companies large or small must understand the days of hiding behind walls are over. Companies can be held accountable. The Web is our voice if used properly change can happen.

I will say this publicly because maybe there is need too. Like yourself I have had my fair share slaps warranted or not. Not in this bizz but mainly in others. I always use the phrase "mind over matter" that is I don't mind and it don't matter. I have been accused of doing wrong when I know it wasn’t me, been chewed up and spit out, but I always manage to hit the off button. I have also mentally ganged rapped others too only to say sorry and regret every word. I assume most people have their fair share of pooh on the plate how one deals with it makes all the difference.

Anyway Gam IMO whatever it takes GP will step up or be bowled out. I personally don’t care how long it takes. GP is the target and have done far worse to affiliates than what affiliates can do to themselves.
