    Default Using content from bookies

Hi all, just have a question on those news feeds that you see on sites, that come from bookmakers-

Does anyone use these? I always thought these would be seen as duplicate content by google and thus will be penalised because lots of people are using them?

You must use that feeds as private feeds and for inspiration for writing articles (or other content). Not to publish as received.

I think both ways are ok depending on their usage.

Publishing the feeds on your site does give some "stickyness" for your visitors, (remember putting stuff on your site for visitors is more important the the putting stuff up for the engines).

Hi gents. Universal- does the duplicate content not hurt rankings though?

Content duplication is a double edge, you just need to know how to use it. Duplication of content won't necessarily get you penalized - just look at google itself which is a media outlet...and all the news outlets worldwide (New York times, Aljazeera, CNN, etc.) who all syndicate their stories to the 'wire' or other central service for other media outlets to use. Duplication get penalized...not necessarily. This is one of the reasons why Google begun utilizing its SEO weights on the canonical tag to point to the story source. But obvious the rookies posting to article sites, etc. run a high risk for content duplication. Google does use other methods to detect if the article duplication is used ethically, or manipulative for optimization purposes...you just have to look at the most recent major algo update from google that aims to attack auto blogs and link wheels.

Again - if used correctly, there is some value, but your still better off producing your own original content...just don't cop out to use a content spinner or similar way of cutting corners.

What about reposting Press Releases and the like from bookmakers, will you be penalised for duplicate content there ?

Suppose nothing will beat producing your own unique or user driven content.

I think you answered your own question betfinder.

    NOTHING beats producing your own.

I think a portion of what IBT said kinda gets at the heart of it.
