Attempted hack of Twitter

I had several emails today from Twitter (perhaps) requesting a password change, as if I was in there attempting to log on and was unsuccessful... This is what hit my inbox:

Can't remember your password, huh? It happens to the best of us.
Please click on the link below our copy and paste the URL into your browser:
xxhttp://twitter.com/account/password_reset?email=xxxxxxx@xxxxxxx&token=800ce61 4e29b7ebf40eda6fbxxx36dae
This will reset your password. You can then login and change it to something you'll remember.

I have changed my password again and made it even more cryptic than it was before. The only thing I can figure was someone attempting to gain access.

Sounds like someone might be trying to access your account there. I would also be tempted to email Twitter support and let them know, just incase it is some sort of phishing scam that they aren't aware of. I've emailed them a couple times about certain things and they've always replied fairly promptly.
