This is what happens when you allow 1 single company to have monopoly and have what like 90%+ the search market share? If there were dozens of engines out there all with 4-5% search traffic share, we wouldn't even be talking about it.

Once again the whole world will be waiting on Europe to push its anti-competitive anti-monopoly measurements and start a snowball effect.

I despise Google as much as you do, but they gained so much market share because they earned it with hard work & innovation. They still are the best search engine in the world.

But that was the Eric Schmidt era. Sundar Pichai era is something else, ugly and nasty, but I won't comment any further on that. Hopefully, Page & Brin will wake the f*** up and change something. In the end, it all comes down to the money, but Google should also bring some value for the user.

In 2020, Bing was so broken that I was able to inject my own keywords in the search by using rudimentary bots and just a few proxies. Bing was sub subpar (if it's correct in english to say so), and that's an overvaluation. Also, from a webmaster point of view, Bing is not even capable of mitigating a negative SEO attack, while Google fixed that a long, long time ago.

We can say/hate whatever we want, Google is still the #1 user choice when it comes to search. Why? Because they are still the best.

As a side note, I'm going to test social media marketing with a new project, just to see how it goes. I agree that sources of traffic should be more and more diverse these days.

I myself some time ago wanted to change my search engine and started using Bing and DuckDuckGo. With general results it is ok, but a little more detailed and there is sometimes a problem.
It's just that Google searches are more accurate and so overall I still use Google most of the time. Whether one likes it or not these are the facts unfortunately, they display the most relevant results.

Who if not Bing could dethrone Google? Well, that's just it. Behind Bing is Microsoft and even that doesn't do anything. 3% market share. In my case, my sites that are on the 5th page of Google have more traffic than from the 1st page of Bing.
However, Microsoft is developing from this angle so maybe this will change.

Also I plan to start the adventure with social media over time. At the moment I am not connected to a single social network. This can be hard, as privately I don't use either and don't fully know this world.

I asked Bing the same question and it had a completely different opinion of best online casinos in the UK. I guess it's all a matter of opinion. LOL

It is also worth mentioning that the DuckDuckGo search engine does not have its own algorithm, it uses the Bing engine.
So the share of the algorithm increases by about 0.5%, which is the share of DDG.
Always something, but it still doesn't change Google's 89%.

Theoretically, Baidu has a large share in China and could be an alternative. But certainly not for our industry for known reasons.

I also stopped dancing to Google's tune years ago and find life so much easier and less stressful as a result.

It will make very little difference. People are not going to start using Bard instead of Google search engine. It is quite simply a gimmick which people will get bored of. On top of this, it seems to pull Google search results, which simply lead back to affiliate sites.

It is on the same levels of thinking that Google Shopping would put an end to online retail / drop shipping stores.
