That is just crazy growth. When do you think they will hit a billion???

Even if 30% are fake it is still a tremendous number.

I would like to know the true value of unique accounts and what the average number of accounts is for those with multiple accounts.

And it's not just marketers or spammers with multiple accounts - my dad managed to register 3 or 4 whilst setting it up! I kept getting friend requests from him...

So 75% of them are people's dad hammering away all day at the 'register now' button!

That takes it down to 125m users already...

that number is grossly inflated, and the same fake/automated users problem but MUCH worse for Twitter and other blogging and microblogging platforms

Facebook is still a very powerful marketing tool in my opinion even if 75% of them are people's dads. It is nice that so many locations are joining together on one social networking site. It connects us all in a way like never before

    Haha

Regardless of dad's and spam signing up a number of accounts, a large percentage of the 500m are genuine and there is huge potential with Facebook.

Facebook is an awesome tool for a variety of things, but I've found it to be an excellent tool to cross-over to a non-igaming field that will eventually benifit my igaming business.

Don't be fooled into thinking that folks are just wasting time and it's made up of spam bots because that is far from accurate.

FB knows the power they have and IMO doing a decent job to make it the best environment possible. Here is one recent example. Why a top Facebook app maker vanished

Well Agreed, I always hear people saying it is a waste of time, but I think those who crack it will be extremely successful.

That's just insane, even considering multiple accounts. I wonder how much more can it grow.

I think I read the other day that approximately 80,000 are multiple accounts, fake accounts, accounts for pets etc etc..

This was an older threra that had been dug up and the totals are over 800 million now with 10% (and I think more) being fake/duplicate.
