I do not think that the future of SEO will change that much. The search engines algorithms will probably get smarter and be able to pick up spam better and sites that pay for links and that don't avid by the search engine's TOS but they will never scrap SEO altogether.
I reckon their algorithm is great atm, you type anything in Google and you never really get 1 page sites that are either irrelevant or are full of nonsense.

Thanks for your contribution guys, much appreciated. What do other people think?
I have quite alot of experience in SEO for the gambling industry and many other industries however I enjoy gambling the most.
SEO is going down the route now where Page Rank is not any longer important at all, trust me although some people won't believe me.
SEO is going down the route now of onsite development is king. Content creation (Blog as an example) is king as Google loves onsite work. I also do believe that sites that only focus on their homepage will not get anywhere anymore. Internal linking will be key in the future where all your pages are strong and they internally link together. Offsite work will still be needed however linking is going to get even harder in the future as people will struggle to know what a good link is as PR is not relevant anymore.
Google spiders will be more stricter than ever in the fact that spam will be picked up heavily.
Many of us here have been saying this for YEARS.SEO is going down the route now where Page Rank is not any longer important at all, trust me although some people won't believe me.

If an affiliate program is not small affiliate friendly (especially small US Affiliate), then they are NOT Affiliate Friendly!

With more of the people having smartphones and using mobile devices, I believe optimizing sites for these devices will be important.
Not sure if this really falls into SEO per se, but having a mobile optimized site will most likely be helpful in the future

Many of us that didn't say anything caught that kaus, but we just tried to turn it into a real discussion....
Believe me though, we mods do not forget that these things have been done, we just watch them closer for the patterns....
Providing the discussions stay on track, and they contain some helpful info they meet the criteria for staying.
Your post did give a chguckle though....

Sorry Rick, I didn't mean for it to direct towards the people who replied..my post was specifically towards the OP and all the other in your face SEO's that attempt to start a discussion with the only intent being "omg I have been doing seo for so many years and am really good at - you should hire me"
That's all...wasn't meant to offend anyone (other than OP). You can delete if you like so it stays on topic![]()

Hey, I was also not offended. If the thread was started for the purpose of genuine help or self promotion as long as people treat it like a real post and contribute then maybe other people will benefit from the post.
For the self promotion threads - We might as well play them at their own games, lol.
you guys wanna post a few more useless posts thinking its another beneficial link?
you actually think PR still matters? you actually think multiple links from the same thread benefit you?
ludicrous.
how about contributing and quit wasting time with this silly theoretical crap.

Scare everyone off why don't you, man.
Actually the replies where beneficial and if some were not it is a forum and people get involved, that is the whole point.
"you actually think multiple links from the same thread benefit you?"
I am aware of that so if I wanted to post just to benefit me then I would only reply once per thread.
Not sure why this thread is getting off track, but I'll just say that PR was dead 3 years ago, still amazes me that people still chase it.
Still wondering why I don't see more webmasters discussing the Page Authority (PA) metric that Open Site Explorer has pioneered. So, I guess what I'm adding to the discussion is that metrics other than PR are part of the future.
We help market the following websites: PlayersJet Online Gambling Sites | The Standard Pay Per Head
Content is base for all Search Engine, i think that future of seo will change and social bookmarks will be very important for sites.
Good point webber.....
So many of us have said hundreds, if not thousands, of times that page rank is NOT what seo should be based on, but with so many entering the seo field all the time constntly reading and trying to learn eith the seo field itself or learning enough about seo to work on their own site, I honestly think most are basing their knowledge on really old articles and information that is outdated.
They just don't take the time to realize that although these articles may contain a number of good tips and best practices, that the discussions surrounding "PR" are the parts that are outdated and they have trouble seperating the two.

Talking about internal linking, here is what I do at both my sites.
There are at least 3 internal links for each page.
One will direct the visitor to the next page using the main keywords for the page.
So, for yourdomain.com/chopped-liver.html, the link will read
Chopped Liver is followed by Best Bagels
Second link will go to the main or Tier 2 page as follows:
Return to Favorite Jewish Snacks
Third link will be Return to Home Page.
BTW, I am not Jewish, but have just finished a tasty bagel.
