Terrible tragedy for all Haitians, Canada has very close ties with the Haiti. The Federal Government wasted no time donating dollars and supplies, in addition matching every dollar a Canadian Citizen contributes up to 50 mil.

How many people here could spare the time and have a service or profession that is in need over there?

Perhaps we as a group could send support in the way of a group of people that could make a difference with their skills and ability?

I for one would happily go there to do whatever was needed to help, not sure an engineer, mechanic or ex military type of person such as me would be much use, however, i would go to help if i could do anything!

That includes me flying, which scares me shitless, however, to help in this way i would do so.

I LOVE this idea, but I'd like to suggest a modified version:

I'm thinking we can put together a group of industry people, who would be willing to travel to Haiti and help rebuild. IF we were to create a well-thought plan (coupled with guidance from one of the many relief agencies), we could go down to Haiti, say by end of March/early April, when the true rebuilding will be beginning. There's no reason we couldn't gather people who simply want to invest sweat-equity and put hammer to nails.

I think it would be a great alternative to our industry's Spring Break--instead of indulging ourselves in another event, we can make a real difference to people who sorely need the help. With that comes the bonus of getting to know each other better in an environment that brings us back to reality and what's important.

If there are others who are GENUINELY interested in getting involvred in something like this, please speak up. I'd be more than happy to get the ball rolling with some skeletal plans, which we can discuss.

I have to say the saddest thing I see was our Governor General on TV ,She is from Haiti and I cried along with her.These people have really suffered alot .We always donate to Doctors Without Borders ,for the last 10 years.They are always one of the first groups to get access to victims who need medical help.

No kidding she really made me feel the pain one of our best Governor Generals ever. The PM sure wasted no time, the hell with Diplomatic Protocol Canada is going in love it! We live in very uncertain times I do whatever I can. I guess it affects people in different ways. For myself occasionally I feel very guilty sitting down to a good meal knowing famine plagues the world, Or when I see farmers slaughtering livestock to drive up prices. Yeah it pulls at my heart strings.

Doctors without boarders is awesome they truly uphold the Hippocratic Oath. People before profits.

The Haitians certainly did not deserve this and hope now the world will go beyond disaster relief and really begin to help them out.

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to let you know that following a conversation with Debbee last week we have been in contact with Oxfam and as such they will be setting up a specific donation page for our industry that will be coded so all the iGaming market can donate through there and thus help us achieve that total for Calvin to match

We will also be pushing this via email and press releases tomorrow leading up to our event and then also at the awards night where people can make pledges and cash donations - we will have a representative from Oxfam there to say a personal thank you so please help us generate as much as possible to make their trip worth it.

So lets take this challenge and show that the iGaming industry cares - When I post the link or you get the email please help get this out to the iGaming sector through any means necessary. I am really excited about this and really believe we can raise a shed load of money!!

PR is going out now via Lyceum who are doing it for Free (thanks) - We will also be sending out to our industry database which is around 18,000 so shopuld get a great response - The more donations we get from iGaming the more Calvin will match though so lets get this out everywhere.
