Will be my first London Conference. Looking forward
I don't think I've ever experienced cold as I'll do at this conference. Bomber jackets it is!
Yeh bad days for me too. The Sunday, conference day 1 is my sons 1st birthday and Christening. Yikes!!
Awards night on a Monday, it's all a bit random this time. Not a fan.![]()

Will be my first conference. I've been told I really should be going to these things, so I'm going to make the effort this time![]()
Shame about the weird days I was quite looking forward to a Saturday/Sunday night in London but that would obviously be VERY unprofessional of me to get smashed the night before a conference, so I won't be doing that, oh no.
AE-Martyn (11 November 2014)
Hmmmm "having beers" "Martyn" and "quiet".....one of those 3 just seems like it's out of place.

Getting smashed is pretty much what 97% of all people attending go to do (particularly the Scandinavian guys, they go nuts like they're just let off the leash once a year!). Seems a big jolly to me! Myself - it's just business, I live 30 miles from London so I can do the nightlife any time.
As a first time LAC goer though - don't be fooled by the masses of people who will try harrass you and flag you down to promote their programs. Know who you want to meet before you go, arrange meetings, and make the most of it, otherwise you'll come home with a massive bag of leaflets and business cards from programs that will never make you any money!![]()
You'd better be coming. You owe me a bloody beer!
Last year I didn't think it was as cold as the year before (the year before it started snowing on the day I left). It actually felt "warm" like I could not wear a jacket. Coming from 40C in Oz, that says a lot. It's not the best time of year for it though and coming from heat in SA you will likely be in the same boat as us, freezing your tits off.
Your son wont remember it anyway. Just get your Mrs to photo shop you into some photos :P
I'm sure being your first conference it will be overwhelming but you will walk away with a new motivation which is what other affiliates say about these things, even the ones who have been around for years and are part of the furniture.
Quiet should be replaced with rowdy.
I did think it was weird that the conference was on those days but it looks like they are doing it before ICE this year so that's likely why. Maybe they couldn't get the venue for the weekend after ICE like they usually do.

Starting on a Sunday is plain stupid IMHO.
This is now a proper grown up industry. It's not kids in their bedroom making a few extra ££ on top of a proper job. Asking professionals to give up their weekends to work (plus weekend travel time as well) is just stupid. And unnecessary. Lots of grumbling here at Bingo Towers.....
The conference normally goes from Thur-Sun. Is it really that different?
We have to fly over 24 hours to get there so we lose our weekend anyway. No different to us, although being like this means we don't lose our weekend flying home and are rather flying home on a work day. Usually the way the conferences fall we have to work for 2 weeks straight without any weekend at all, and have to land in the morning and work a full day to boot!
At least if you do have your own business you could move your weekend to other days in the week?
I'm sure Alex etc didn't set out to ruin everyone's weekend. They probably didn't have a choice.

As MOST attendees will be travelling internationally to attend I'm not sure that your view will be commonly held.
There is a LOT of travel also involved for many. A day trip to go to a conference? Luxury!
And as mentioned above - there is not much difference between a Thur-Sun schedule and a Sat-Tue plan is there?
I really don't care since I don't know what day it is most of the time.
This is the gambling industry. Who cares what day it is? Got to report to your boss on Monday?
Renee (24 November 2014)
I am goingLooking forward to this one. Up for a nomination for best newcomer, so fingers crossed on that!
Thinking about the Chelsea v Man city game the day before.
Who is going to the Awards night?

I care in so much as I'd rather be in London on a weekend, especially if the main days were Friday and Saturday, I could let my hair down on the Saturday night and have a good night out in London on a busier night. A Monday night out in London not quite the same, but hey we're here for work riiiight?
