These games are for the birds!

You are either 100% against the unethical behavior or you are for it. You are 100% completely intolerant are you are tolerant! There is no middle ground when it comes to something so disgusting!

The half a dozen or so threads, including the one where Lou himself attempted to sell a database clearly show a history of tolerance!

Just like a little kid - to get his hand stuck in the cookie jar and then proclaim after he had been caught that I don't really like those cookies anyway. That explanation as well as the misdirection regarding this database issue is nothing but a load of malarkey!

P.S. how would you know whether a particular post had yielded any private messages? How could you possibly know that a post giving out contact information eg an email address and/or a website name would have not yielded a private off-site contact?

... and I/we am the ones scamming? MALARKEY!

As I said earlier in this thread:

My belief is that a desirable outcome is a clear statement of philosophy about attempts to sell databases that we can all support.

    Here is my suggestion:

That there be a philosophy of intolerance concerning such posts that is supported in the following ways:

    1. That any post offering to sell a database of player information be either deleted or archived to a location not visible in the forums as soon as it is discovered by forum administrators or as soon as forum administrators receive notice of such a post from forum members.

    2. That from this point forward any forum member who makes such a post be banned from the forums.

Note that simply editing posts to remove contact information is not sufficient in my opinion since the user profile of the poster may reveal sufficient information to allow them to be contacted.

As executive director of the GPWA, I will ensure the GPWA follows this philosophy from this point forward.

After I complete this post I will send a pm to Lou (professor) at CAP to review this post so he can let us know if he will support the same philosophy on the CAP site from this point forward.

If we can all agree and support a common philosophy in this area from now on, then I think we will have accomplished all that can reasonably be expected from the discussion on this thread.

So please, let's have the focus of this thread be about the principles we believe forum administrators should apply in handling any future posts or existing threads offering player databases for sale.

    Thanks,

Database sale threads must be deleted quicktime yes.

May I say?.. I am not interersted in gaming affiliate board wars. Ragging on Lou was never a pastime of mine. If there was something I wanted or did,nt like about/from Cap, I personally said so there to the boss.

I have absolutely no interest in any of this aside no more database sales, and did Lou write the thread offering to sell 100k of UK players details or not. If so, assurances it won't happen again mean little to me, especially with no apology right, sorry Michael, it's the way it is.

The thread existed. It was copied, screenshotted and it's heading captured by archive.org, no question. It was commented upon by Dominique.

All that remains is did someone set up Lou or not. If so, it won't have been Racetrack or CPA, witnesses to the threads existance or myself.

    # Is the thread still archived or not in the software?
    # Can any corroborative evidence be offered that Lou's account was spoofed or infiltrated.
    # Who by, apparently there is someone who had the wherewithall, motive and opportunity to do so.

Why would Lou protect such a persons identity? It's not looking good.

I stand unmoved and remain assured by what I have seen since, that I correctly voted with my feet.

If any more respected members of the gaming community sell me out or my kind, or appear to do so, with good weight of evidence against them, i'll walk the same way.

No conspiracy here i'm afraid. Just me standing up for myself, come what may. I would hope deep down, whether guilty or not, Lou acknoweledges based on previous knowledge, my stance for what it is, mine.

    Thumbs up Michael

In the context I am a “liar” this or that I doubt my words carry any creditability. In any case if they do I fully agree Michael.

I have never been interested in private agendas, my self-persona or anything of the sort. I just stay with the issue longer than most. Exploring this issue was important. Perhaps maybe now all will have a better understanding the selling or purchasing of personal databases is unacceptable.
    <O</O

I have taken the jabs and insults with grace so that we may all walk away a little wiser.

I never realized Lou felt this way about myself. If the GPWA feels the same, please spare me the wait and ban me now. I am just glad CAP and the GPWA takes this issue seriously.

I have nothing more to say……

First off I would like to thank Michael and Brian for their attempts to defuse this thread and support CAP and the truth. I would also like to thank my best friend the Captain, Big Fish and Dominique for having the courage and integrity to post their support in what was obviously a VERY hostile and negative thread.

I also wish that my first post at GPWA in several years could have been made under much better circumstances. But things being what they are here goes:

    1. Would like to point everyones attention to our official policy at CAP with regards to the sale of databases or email lists. Its posted here:

    http://www.casinoaffiliateprograms.c...ap.19161.html?

    it states:

Guys while it has always been our operational policy to not allow the sale of email or casino databases at CAP we havent publicly outlined or posted our stance on this. I felt it was prudent to post our official policy moving foward.

    1. CAP does NOT recommend, support, endorse or condone SPAM or email marketing efforts to persons who have not specifically opted in to receive those emails.

    2. CAP does not allow databases or email lists to be offered for sale at our community. PERIOD. If you post an item like this for sale the post will be removed from public display and the poster will be banned from CAP. We have a 0 tolerance policy on this moving forward.

3.We do support repsonsible email marketing to a newsletter or email list where the recipient has opted in to receive those emails from that publisher. But we do not allow those lists or newsletters to be sold or exchanged here at CAP.

In the past there HAVE been several posts by persons who sought to sell databases. When we see those types of threads they will be archived. We have NEVER supported the sales of databases, but the fact is we are a very active community and not every post is caught. Occasionally something we do not like has made it through our moderation net and I cant apologize enough for this. We will certainly be watching carefully to ensure it doesn't happen again in the future.

If you have any questions on this policy you are welcome to PM me.

    Thanks
    Professor
That's our policy in a nutshell and it expresses what has ALWAYS been our view at CAP. If you frequent CAP you know we have ALWAYS advocated responsible marketing practices by affiliates. We have come out on numerous occasions as being clearly against SPAM, Scumware and Blackhat practices. Most of you have known me for years and you already know that about CAP.

The post that allegedly took place was from two years ago. I did NOT make that post. It's either a total fabrication or it's a post made by a person with admin access we had a problem with several years ago and let go. It's not in our database and if I had seen it years ago I would have deleted it. I am not perfect, no one is, but this is really an unfair and hateful attack that has no obvious benefit to anyone.

I don't expect the the antagonists staging this circus to accept that. They dont want an explanation or dialogue, they want blood and to damage me and CAP. They are not trying to change anything or protect anyone, it's just a malicious smear campaign based on a thread that supposedly occured over TWO YEARS AGO. Instead they will hammer away until someone steps in and stops them. That's apparent after two week of this barage.

I believe their self serving motivations are obvious and I am not interested in wallowing in the mud with these dirt bags and unethical liars, so I wont be posting again in this thread.

I hope the next time I post here it will be under far happier circumstances.

    Thanks for hearing me out.

OK, it seems pretty clear that there is a concensus at both GPWA and CAP that there won't be any tolerance for any attempt to sell player databases on either site in the future. I think that is a good resolution we can all support on that front.

And on the matter of past history, it is clear that there are divergent views, and that further discussion is not going to produce any concensus. And I don't think there is any further benefit to be gained by continuing the tirades and name calling on that front.

So, I think it is a natural time to bring this saga to a conclusion and close this thread.
