dose it happen often?
dose it happen often?
I have some pages with bookmaker.com reviews, that im removing at the moment because of this ridiculous terms.
We have the same problem with 10bet (avoid at all cost) They have a similar rules about you need at least 5 new players last quarter to get paid. With a sign up bonus with 10x wager and minimum odds 2.0, they make sure is hard for affiliates to refer small time/ mid stakes players.
We have had over €1000 in our affiliate account locked up at 10bet because of their player activity rule.
AVOID AT ALL COST!
another "nice words" and lot's of bulshit blackmail email, now from a guy named Anthony from Bookmaker:
and my answer:I understand your point. I do. But I have to ask you, as I ask all the affiliates that ask about that rule. Is your site THAT bad that it won’t get you 10 players? Honestly. Think about that question. I would not ever spend my time and energy on a site if I did not feel 1000% that I can optimize properly and drive the traffic to it.
10 players is cake! I’m thinking 100 players for you is more of a goal. And if you market and optimize your site with intensity and enthusiasm. Use are tools, like our self updating landing pages and banners, I can almost guarantee you success.
Your money is still in your account. Always will be. But you will never get the 10 players if you don’t market. Do you get the free ticket when your short 10,000 miles with the airline? Do you get the free meal after only having 7 and still have 3 to go?
Even one of the posters on that link you sent throws himself under the train by saying…”They lost out and another firm in their sector ended up with many clients that would have gone to them. As it transpired, in only a small time I would have passed their requirements by far”
He himself says he would have passed the requirement in no time and then it would just have been an afterthought.
What I’m getting at is simply, use our tools, do what you know, site marketing etc. And the players will come. 10 will be a drop in the bucket.
Dear Anthony,
This nice words "affiliate ambition" speech, is called BLACKMAIL! there's NO connection what so ever between my earnings that I earned honestly and you owe me , to giving you 10 active players a day.
Do I sound like a newbie or a kid? don't bulshit me please with nice words, like "you can do it" - i know what i can do believe me. and if i'll choose to promote you I'll do it cause you guys are honest and paying on time, NOT because you're holding my money - what, are you guys stupid or what? don't you understand that by yourselfs?
You pay what you owe me first, and JUST then i'll keep promoting you.
btw - as you could understand from that thread, you're loosing affiliates EVERY day, and it'll make a BIG effect on the long term, believe me!
get some sense!
"Even one of the posters on that link you sent throws himself under the train by saying…”They lost out and another firm in their sector ended up with many clients that would have gone to them. As it transpired, in only a small time I would have passed their requirements by far”

No, Bookmaker. You have thrown your company "under the train." You changed the rules retrospectively, refused to pay me and then expect me to keep sending clients to you. How can you con merchants keep agressively promoting yourselves to affiliates UNTIL YOU PAY UP THE MONEY YOU HAVE STOLEN FROM THEM?

So ten active players is cake, huh?10 players is cake! I’m thinking 100 players for you is more of a goal. And if you market and optimize your site with intensity and enthusiasm. Use are tools, like our self updating landing pages and banners, I can almost guarantee you success.
They cannot even retain 10 active sign-ups. I've lost many active players who stopped playing there.
Once again as I've said before, Bookmaker pretends as if they really want their affiliates to reach their goal, yet they do whatever they can to make that goal unachievable , e.g 14 day cookie expiration for affiliate ID's and losing a player after 60 days if the player doesn't deposit.
Let's take this example outside the internet, are you going to invite a guy who dishonestly steals money from you to your party so you can introduce him to all your family and friends? Of course not, but what you will do is if people you know run into this guy on the street, your going to tell them to watch out for this guy because of what he has done to you.No, Bookmaker.
They played some of the worst politics with the people who promote them. All the while expecting these same people to continue a relationship with them on their unfair terms holding money owed at bay.
anthony reply:
they don't wanna listen...how stupid of them.Well, no disrespect intended, but you must be new to the industry or at least at being a sportsbook affiliate. You see, your comment about losing affiliates every day, according to that one thread, may seem huge to you.
But we actually welcome the departure of the affiliate who cannot get a measly 10 players. That only means that they are not willing to do the simple things. To do on their end. Just throw up a site and they’re done. TA DAH !!!!
Well, we don’t want those types of affiliates. We want real long term relationships. We want the affiliate who exchanges ideas with us. Who wants to be successful. Who wants to earn top commissions. Just like the tons of affiliates we have that have 100’s of active players per week.
You think those affiliates that are earning 40% are worried about getting 10 guys? Come on.
Sites like, bangthebook.com have over 300 active players! And the site is pretty simple but well maintained and optimized.
Nonetheless, I wish you the best with all that you do.
Best regards.
Of course they do, this is how they designed it, so they can rob them of their earnings. But we actually welcome the departure of the affiliate who cannot get a measly 10 players.
Bookmaker's poor business decisions are not just affecting affiliates. They can't process a CC for the life of them. Horrid 30 cent lines are littered across their boards, and they are charging outrageous fees to clients, not to mention for b2b (book to book) tranfers which are generally free with other participating books.
Their deteriorating as predicted from the start ever since they implemented these ridiculous terms. It's only a matter of time before they really crash and burn.
It's more than 10 measly players. It's 10 players in the week before you make a withdrawal.
Plus they steal your players if they don't deposit within 60 days.Term 3.2. Affiliate is required to refer a minimum of 10 active customers during the previous week to withdraw/transfer their earnings. If the affiliates chooses to close the affiliate account before reaching the required 10 active players, any and all commissions shall be forfeited.
Plus they reserve the right to raise or lower any affiliates' commission rate solely at Management’s discretion.
Predatory to the max!

ROFL, this is actually to the point that it is comical. Bookmaker never sent emails out now low and behold this makes it two in about two weeks. Now their going on twitter. Seems like they are desparate to try every approach on the planet other than the most pragmatic one of all. Take care of your affiliates and they will take care of you. This affiliate team there as well as upper management really don't have a clue, I'm finally convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt at this point.
I have to disagree with most affiliates here.
The rules are that you have to have 10 active bettors in a week to get paid. If you don't like it, then don't promote them.
This is similar to Bodog's stance in the past with accepting websites.
They are only looking for high quality websites and affiliates, can you really blame them for that?
This is not predatory in the slightest.
The problem we have with the program is that they introduced these terms retroactively. Programs are free to set whatever terms they wish and we all agree on that.
The difference is Bodog didn't apply it retroactively.
James
If this where the case Anthony would be an affiliate pushing for his 100 active players and not working a 9-5 telling others how easy it is.10 players is cake!
balagan9 (21 December 2010)
Just got this email from Bookmaker. Remember they owe me $5000+ that they have refused to pay and they introduced their rule retrospectively. Anthony has not even looked at my relevant website, but why let the facts get in the way. Is this email from a professional company that you could trust or total scum? You decide:
"Wow, hundreds!! That’s great. And you don’t think that of those hundreds of players you “could” have sent us, at least 10 would have played? We, fortunately, are not the short sighted ones.
We have always had the rule, only now have taken a different approach. We want long lasting relationships. Idea exchanges, etc. Not the, “throw up a site and see what comes in” guy. We invest in the marketing department to stay on top of the players to keep redepositing, we staff the customer service dept. to take those deposit and payout requests. Our team scours the earth for legitimate processing in order to take those deposits and make those payouts. We pay the legal team to make sure our licenses and permits are up to date. And so much more, on our dime.
<OYour site, is what is known in the industry, as a “banner farm”. You become and affiliate to as many as possible and get what trickles in from each. I would bet you any amount of money, that if your traffic had only 3-5 choices on sportsbooks instead of over 25, your customer base would bottle neck to those 3-5 and you’d earn more in volume from the books.
<OThink of it this way, 25 books at 25% but only a handful of customers at each. Compared to that same customer base, at 3-5 books, that you’d be earning 40 or even 50% of!! <O
Just something to think about
You keep mentioning other affiliates, the only affiliate that would complain about 10 players is the affiliate with an unsuccessful site or marketing scheme. All others who are successful have kicked 10 players in the rump loooong ago and is not even an issue for them anymore.
I would love to know how we have been dishonest with you. Everything we do or ask of all our affiliates is clearly stated within our terms and conditions. <OWe are here to work with you, not against you. We’re partners in this.
<OWell young man, I wish you the best. Have a safe happy holiday.
<OAnthony"
This guy is deliberately twisting the facts. This sort of dishonesty, that is obviously institutional in this cowboy outfit, will always come back to bite you as an affiliate. Can you imagine a juvenile and unprofessional email like that from one of the professional European firms that are in a legal regulated environment? This sort of missive can only eminate from a company that thinks it exists in the shadows of legality and has no ambition to be anything other than that. Was he even sober? I actually hope not. I know it is difficult to move away from a company when you have players invested in it, but to all you affiliates that are still promoting Bookmaker, you need to move this firm down the rankings on your sites. Get the main traffic to one of their competitors. Just gently ease them out. If this thread has told you anything then it is that. It does not matter how much they are currently paying you each month, they must not be trusted.

This is what I did, I had about 3-5 and my top banner was Bookmaker.com and look where it got me $1k+ that I will never see.I would bet you any amount of money, that if your traffic had only 3-5 choices on sportsbooks instead of over 25, your customer base would bottle neck to those 3-5 and you’d earn more in volume from the books.
See, what happened to me was I kept starting up fledging websites trying to find the niche for that "perfect one." So I never expected a lot of traffic, as my initial goal was, "build it and they will come." My goal was always to start small take whatever money I made and reinvest it to make bigger and better. Well thanks Bookmaker, money that I would have used to grow bigger your holding at bay.
The funny thing is, I do a lot of research on companies etc, etc, before I would ever think of promoting. I never promoted a site that I personally didn't play at and knew first hand that players that I would send would be paid. What Bookmaker has really done here is hurt the industry as a whole. Thousands of webmasters and affiliates are going to turn to less than reputable sportsbooks and promote them in the end result. However, there are a lot of good brands out there to still promote. This Bookmaker ordeal is sad though (for me at least,) because as I said before, I never expected to start out big, only to grow to that point slowly.
No, I've never seen a professional company ever reply as their affiliate team does. I have to exclude Christine here, she is actually a really good and professional affiliate team member who unfortunately works for the wrong company.

Hmm.. well maybe if they didn't take away players after 60 days, and extended their cookie expiration's to something a bit closer to industry standards (14 days is rather an insult) then maybe threads like this wouldn't exist because we would all have our 10 active player if conversions are what they claim them to be.You keep mentioning other affiliates, the only affiliate that would complain about 10 players is the affiliate with an unsuccessful site or marketing scheme. All others who are successful have kicked 10 players in the rump loooong ago and is not even an issue for them anymore.

lol, well....I AM the other affiliate that complained. do my site ( http://sportsbetting.classicasinos.com/ ) looks like an unsuccessful site?!?! guys at Bookmaker...you are going low... VERY low :-/You keep mentioning other affiliates, the only affiliate that would complain about 10 players is the affiliate with an unsuccessful site or marketing scheme. If this comment was made to me - I would have been pissed off big time.Your site, is what is known in the industry, as a “banner farm”. You become and affiliate to as many as possible and get what trickles in from each
In fact, if thats the case - then I guess all of my sites would be considered banner farms! What is so wrong with offering players a wide range of casinos?
I don't promote sportsbooks as I don't have enough knowledge, but I think the same philosophy can be applied to casinos.
I don't just sit back and see what "trickles in". I have a good relationship with many of the casinos I promote and they are not just "simply slapped up there"
I simply like to give my players a good choice. Does that make me a banner farm? No, It doesn't ! I am a succesful affiliate who has been in the industry for 10 years.
One thing I do know for sure, and that is that if I ever did go seriously into sportsbetting, you can bet your bottom dollar that Bookmakers.com would not be put up on my "banner farm" simply because their attitude really sucks and who the hell are they to blatantly insult affiliates websites!!

Yes, i found his email, taunting, patronising and insulting and obviously it contained lies. Apart from that it gave a great insight into the type of person you are dealing with at Bookmaker. You need to be able to trust affiliate departments implicitly as they can disassociate players from your affiliate account at the drop of a hat.
Is this person the sort to wrestle with his conscious before disassociating that big losing player from your affiliate account or would he just do it for fun? I wonder.
