    Arkyt,

Let's put our cards on the table here. You are still bitter with me because I publically made comments about your iGami organisation, am friends with Bryan Bailey and also commented that you were posting as a sock puppet Casey Enos on Winner Online, when trying to drum up support for iGami.

You don't like me. Fair enough, but to question my ethics when I don't hide behind a screen name is out of line, when it is quite clear to anyone who the person behind Webzcas is.

I also attend conferences, am nothing but upfront and honest and also would stand by what I post in a fora environment in person.

Now whilst I am sure not all editors in DMOZ are on the level, the majority are. But to judge someone by your own standards is harsh, wrong and uncalled for.

I will say it again Brian, if you suspect an editor of abusing their position at DMOZ then please report said editor or editors. Furthermore if you do so, please provide as much substantive information as possible. These reports do get treated with high priority and each and every one of them is dealt with swiftly.

Now step back a second, and wonder why you have not got any sites listed in DMOZ? I presume this is why you are showing signs of an unhealthy interest in this area?

Could it be that your sites are no different than the countless hundreds indeed thousands of sites that are submitted and suggested every year?

Instead of bitching on a forum, playing the woe is me card and painting a picture of everyone with the same standards you adhere to ( You are the same person that ripped off ecogra's logo and site are you not? ). Do something about it.

Apply to become an editor and become part of the solution.

First of all i want to say that in the short time i have known Dave i have found him to be absolutely open and honest.

Anyone questioning Dave's integrity is very wrong, I have not known Dave for too long and we have had disagreements in the past, but we have become friends and speak often and i respect him both as a webmaster and as a person.

Now I have tens of sites and more in the pipeline and just three of my sites have been listed on DMOZ to my knowledge, now if having a friend helps you get sites on DMOZ then i am obviously missing the boat not using my influence to get Dave to list my sites unfairly in front of others.

Or it could simply be that the little i know of Dave tells me quite categorically that he will not list my sites because i ask him to as a friend, i know he would not and so don't ask, simple.

That said i accept that their are apparent issues with DMOZ

But between all the accusations i have not actually seen any proof of crooked behaviour, assumptions and guesses yes, but no actual proof.

That does not mean that some of the allegations are without foundation, i simply do not know, i read about DMOZ like everyone else and i have my opinion like everyone else and i can for sure see why people have lost trust in DMOZ.

But repeating what we read on the Internet is akin to hearsay if there is no proof presented and i for one would love to see proof presented, i am sure Dave, Michael and Kaus would also.

It is up to ones own choice if they trust Michael, Dave and Kaus, i do and i am sure if there is proof presented of the sort of behaviour listed in this thread that they will do something about it.

So rather than attack (not pointing a finger at anyone), put trust in the editors we know on here and ask them to assist you, ask their guidance, work with them, it may help.

I am like Chips, i don't have the time to become an editor and i have no hang ups about DMOZ, it is just another tool to me, but if i have an issue i would do exactly what Dave and Kaus have recommended and that is to report abuse or speak with one of the editors on here about it.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

Wrong, I couldn't care less what you say about anything; nor could I care who you befriend - jeesh! No sock puppets here - long ago stated emphatically I am not, nor was I ever Casey! What the heck does this have to do with iGAMI (a site that first brought ethics to the table) anyway? You are going to need better cards on the table!

You seem to be making a habit of moving all in with 72o!

I didn't rip off anyone! The checkmark that was included in the placeholder logo of that site, in addition to the entire website, was ran by Andrew and eCOGRA prior to presenting that site to anyone else. Before the site went public the actual logo was put in place!

I've had and still do have gaming sites listed in dmoz in addition to several non-gaming sites listed - this is not about my sites not currently being listed. I'm against unethical behavior and IMO gaming the dmoz system is unethical - simple as that! If speaking out and taking a stand against things that are wong is unhealthy , so be it.

The way I see it, if you weren't gaming the system I wouldn't see any reason at all for you to go off and try to discredit my comments with invalid non-sense and to try and make everything so personal especially considering the fact, that to this point, I have never publically directly called you out as being an unethical editor. Quite possible, maybe the topic alone struck a little too close to home!

What ever, these baseless attacks don't bother me in the least. I've seen these presumed counter-attacks all before and I won't get personal online - heck it wouldn't be 2 minutes and his fine outstanding honest pals would be here to defend the fictional innocent attacker from the fictional big bad wolf.

At the end of the day gaming of the dmoz system is real not imagined!

You needn't of posted the above Arkyt. I wouldn't and didn't expect anything less from you.

    Arrrggghh can't leave it.

The way back archive is such a wonderful tool. Especially showing up liars for what they are.

I didn't rip off anyone! The checkmark that was included in the placeholder logo of that site, in addition to the entire website, was ran by Andrew and eCOGRA prior to presenting that site to anyone else. Before the site went public the actual logo was put in place!
    REALLY???!!

Is that why Andrew told you he wasn't happy with the logo you used on igami?

Don't take my word for it, you wrote this in your press release.

As noted above, I had also contacted eCOGRA and received a professional and courteous reply from Andrew Beveridge.

He stated that "We certainly do welcome an organisation such as yours into the industry, and I'm sure the efforts of both our organisations can compliment each other "

He went onto express a concern that our logo and seal looked similar to theirs - "I think there is a clear risk of the public confusing the logos of both organisations."

And closed with "I really would like to support you with this initiative, however I must respectfully ask you to first change your seal ..."

Though I personally did not believe the similarity would cause any confusion - I respect the wishes of Andrew and will move to create a new logo & seal.

You can spin a story however you want Brian. You can also make your subtle or not so subtle innuendos and digs. But when called on it, you revert to type and lie.

You are not bothered or interested in ethical behaviour. You are though a petty minded individual, jealous of other peoples success and if you are in London, I will gladly say this to your face.

Actually thinking about it, it is probably a good thing you are not an editor at DMOZ. As to be accepted you have to be 100% up front and truthful.

You can go back and carry on your vendetta now. I am out of this thread when it comes to replying to you.

    Edited to add:
No sock puppets here - long ago stated emphatically I am not, nor was I ever Casey!

    To Whom It May Concern,

There is good evidence to indicate that i-gami and Casey Enos are in fact the same poster. Judging from the IP evidence it's one person posting to both member accounts.

Since duplicate accounts is a strict no-no here at WINNERonline.com I be taking action against i-gami/Casey Enos shortly.

So those personal attacks was you trying to help me? Well thanks Dave, you really are a great guy!

BUT wait - you weren't done - you have to come back trying to reinforce your baseless attacks. LMAO - like I said the entire topic must have hit too close to home that you have to try and continue to discredit me. Of course you can't leave it ...

Lie about what exactly Webzcas? I NEVER lie! NEVER!

As I stated above and years ago before private or public release, the entire iGAMI website was ran by Andrew prior to anyone else seeing it! YES, the site was modeled after eCOGRA that was never a secret - it was not a ripoff - I was totally upfront about that with Andrew.

Jesus if I had totally ripped off eCOGRA why the hell would they be the first people I approach? YES - he had commented on the logo and he was told that it was a temporary place holder logo ... just as I mentioned above! Not a lie! Hell I even have the original email still !!! In fact I still have several emails from you sent to iGAMI!!!

Webzcas - you have proved nothing, let alone that I am a liar! I stated I ran the site by eCOGRA and you posted evidence that I did. All you have done is confirm that what I said is in fact TRUE! Nice Job!

Further, LORD, iGAMI is totally irrelevant - it has absolutely nothing at all to do with dmoz fraud! No doubt about it - its your **** poor effort to discredit my opinions on dmoz. Why would you be so motivated to do that if you are totally on the up and up?

when DMOZ moan about lack of editors i have to laugh, I've applied twice and got told no both times. Im no thicko and my application was bob on. But hey ho, no loss to me.

I'll try once more to get a site listed but I really dont think DMOZ counts for much anymore anyway. After all, you'll never pick up a customer from there and with directories being down graded sometime ago i think its not worth worrying about. especially after google removed the 'getting listed on dmoz and yahoo directory' from their webmaster guide

infact having just submitted my site again im even more convinced that DMOZ is fairly pointless. The deep section I wanted to submit to you couldn't so I had to use the more general one and that hadnt been updated since feb 2010, so not much chance of getting a site on there. Google knows this so i very much doubt they'll be looking at dmoz as an up to date authority

Ask yourself this - if it was totally pointless eg had no value, why would anyone want to be listed there? Further why would any editor want to take time out of their busy schedules to edit the directory / to game the system, if the work they did had zero value? Would seem like a total waste of time on both counts.

Fact is - the dmoz listing is extremely valuable and as long as there are editors using the system to their advantage anyone who is not listed is being directly being affected in a negative manner as a direct result of the editors abuse.

Certainly I imagine there are editors in categories which have no expectation of any monetary return which are free of abuse, but you can bet your last dollar that any category which has a great potential for great income has been or is being abused.

please behave yourself. I really am laughing out loud here. People think DMOZ is valuable because of posts like this. DMOZ used to be the holy grail but times have changed. Believe it or not i strongly believe some editors actually do what they do because they enjoy it and actually want to be part of a site that supposedly is the best resource about.
if you can show me one example of a site that is lording it above everyone just because of a dmoz listing i'll eat my hat but heres a poser for you. there is a site in my niche that is listed on dmoz, its older than mine, has more inlinks than mine and all the usual stuff are correct aswell, but its only a few places above me and hardly breaking records.
one reason people will chase a link off DMOZ though ITS FREE

Behaving with caustic negativity is behaving, if one wants to be literal.

One site with one dmoz listing ain't going to do jack. But you've missed the point...

20, 30+ sites all holding a dmoz listing, all link wheeling together. Include all sites (1000's) using the ODP RDF dumps which link directly back to the sites listed in the dmoz gambling categories.

    Yeah that will do it!

BTW...Google uses the OPD as its directory or are you going to tell me Google is overrated too

100% correct for a lot of sites listed there, I am not saying all.

This linkweel exists as I have seen new sites now interlinking with a 3 way deal, great if you are in it........

    Hey there,

couple of tips when applying to become a moderator at DMOZ

    - go for a category which is at the bottom of the chain, something small, and manageable with 12-14 links
    - go for a category which doesnt have an editor
    - go for a category which you have a keen interest for
    - don't be surprised if you were rejected - I was rejected 2-3 times.
    - get someone to look over your application
    - know how to write new site submissions
    - if you were rejected, contact the moderator who reviewed your application, they will give you more information on why it was rejected.

Remember that some categories get smashed with applications and website submissions, and to be an editor of these categories, like all other editors, you need to have that history to show you can handle the job.

I had to start at small categories, and over time, as I got more experience, I applied for larger categories. Even as a current editor, I did get knocked back!

Every edit, addition, delete, move you do, is logged, and people do review it. I have infact been contacted for removing a site which did exists, when I said it doesn't (when i cleaned up my categories, the website was no longer around).

Also some sites are submitted from way back, some webmasters let them expire, and other webmasters pick them up and make them into spam sites.
