You're making me show my age Chalkie. Ahh the Patridge Family! I remember singing into the hairbrush in front of the mirror.

    David Cassidy was so cute.

My brother was big time on them. I was more into Deep Purple, THE Stones, Led Zepplin, you know all those easy listening bands.

Cassette tapes were out when I was a kid (and my parents wouldn't let me use their record player), so the first one I bought was New Kids on the Block, however the first CD that was given to me (before I bought the cassette above) was Michael Jackson BAD. Loved it then, and although I have no idea where it is today, I still love his music. Can't say much for him personally though.

    Great thread mate

I did leave the Partridge family behind and move on to these and still love them. Good stuff there. My all time favorite is Aerosmith.

I shouldn't confess this Renee but before cassettes we had 8-track players.

I also cannot remember first, but LAST Album I bought (vinyl) was Pearl Jam Vitology. I think first ones would be Bruce Springsteen - Born in usa, Van Halen 1984,

Before that I was a pirate and had many copies on tape

I guess I'm about to show my age...
I remember 45's! You could buy one for less than a dollar. My first singles were probably the Beatles and/or Tommy James. 33 rpm LP's were too expensive on my allowance.
I remember 8 tracks. I had a 72 VW bug with an 8 track and monster speakers in the back seat... band quality sound!
Then came cassettes... they sucked... always got wound too tight and wouldn't play right.

We seem to have a lot of people that picked trendy records as their first purchase

Unlesss its my age thinking that your choices were trendy when of course for your age they really were a little dubious.

Come on, i reckon at least one guy on here must have bought the osmonds or baycity rollers?

Funnily enough a couple of christmas's ago my daughter decided one of my presents was to be a nostalgic Cd, luckily my wife managed to convince her that the sex pistols would be better suited than the bay city rollers
