I have to say, however, that you will likely not get much response out of me for the near future as, in normal Chalkie fashion, i have a crisis on again!

My youngest grandaughter has been rushed in to hospital now and sorry, however, whatever goes on other than this is irrelevant to me until this is resolved!
Sorry to hear Paul and agree this thread is non-issue in times of crisis. My sincere hopes and prayers everything will be okay.

Thanks guys, all is ok on the health front.

After bringing the AU down with his dictorial decision about the democratic organisation that was to be the AU, Messr Aussie Dave now seems intent on creating further disrepute:

    From the AU splash page

Money, power and egos are riff in the gambling affiliate industry. Because the AU (Affiliate Union) was to remain autonomous those that think they own this industry set about to destroy the credibility of the Affiliate Union. Although the AU will not be opening on the 1'st October 2009, it would be a disservice and contempt against all gambling affiliates if the connections that brought the AU down were not exposed. This information will be released over the coming weeks.

Hope not too much effort (for both affiliate union initiatives) gets lost in fighting for the online 'truth' of what happened.

Oh Dear! I really hope that that message is old and has just not been updated yet. I can't believe how such a good idea turned into a train wreck so quickly.

That message is new not old, this is the worrying thing!

I am not interested in destroying existing organisations, never was, all i was interested in was doing some good!

    Will i continue? Who knows?

This is sickening the way good intentions have resulted in such a mess.

It MAY be criptic, but I feel ya Peter!

I don't know what happened with your attempt fergie, but it's too bad that it was shot down! Affiliates have a lot against them as it is and we surely don't need to shoot ourselves in the foot as a FEW of the OP's are doing a good job of it for us!

I say 'keep hope alive' and 'just do it baby'!

Well that was a good idea gone south.

So...are we still getting a GAU/AU or not???

I don't get in here much lately but, after reading this book - took over 1-1/2 hrs, I'm still waiting to find out what's actually happening.

I see that CPA finally checked in - there are still many old-timers missing.

    Being constructive here...

Forming an affiliates union seems like a good idea but enthusiasm won't be enough. IMHO you should charge dues. If affiliates want representation to further their earning capacity and clean up the field, they should pay for it - and be glad to do so. Hopefully, that would give this organisation a running start.

It's a proven fact that no-one has any respect for something that is free. Also, if the founding members have to front all the money, they have too much power. One equates to the other.

We are all in this place to learn more about making money and, as the old saying goes, it takes money to make money. Consider it an investment. Not accepting contributions from other groups is a good idea - so if the money comes from the membership, including an equal amount from the founding members, everyone has a vested interest. The founding members will have enough to do without shouldering the financial burden as well.

Many of us don't hesitate to plunk our dollars down for ppc - gamblers all So what's the difference in making an investment to improve what we do.

Elect a treasurer and a couple of people who all have to sign remittances and who has to return statements to the board of directors or founding members and go from there. Without funds all the good intentions in the world aren't going to make a difference.

At least that would answer one of the very valid questions asked somewhere back in there.

I'm not jumping back in to find the post that raised a bunch of great questions but this is one that I remember.

Maybe this could become a discussion raising more points - if we can finally stick to the point which is a union.

    ntaus
